Great Cast Member Experiences?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

Great Cast Member Experiences?

Post by kronk's angel » Nov Mon 07, 2005 5:09 am

I was thinking about a disastrous conference I had to do a presentation at on WDW property, and had brought my family along for "fun" -- all my kids got *really* sick. We just took them to Downtown Disney for an hour or two until they were too exhausted to do more, and went back to the room (where they slept for 18-20 hours) and found the CM had not only cleaned up all the sick stuff (medicines, etc.) but had decorated the room, arranging their stuffed animals, etc. It was easily the high point of the trip for them.

Earlier, my 10 year old was talking about the pin given to her by a DL cast member who "caught her being good," I think picking up some trash -- 2 years ago! Really was a happy experience for her.

That got me wondering -- anyone else have some nice cast member experiences to share?
No, no... He's got a point.

We have atleast one per trip. My son getting a free pin, unexpectedly from a cast member. Me getting a really cool pen at AKL when I mentioned to the concierge cast member who checked us in that his pen was really neat and could we purchase them at the gift shop?

Wanting to buy crackers from a restaurant because our son was in the room "sick" and the CM coming back with a handfull of 2-per pack crackers with a "tell him I hope he feels better soon!"

It's little stuff like this that really makes WDW magical and keeps people coming back! :)

I love (trying to) create memories for guests to take home with them. It makes the job that much more worthwhile.

Shove ice cream in their face. They'll remember that for the rest of their lives.

Oh, I forgot the best cure for insomnia.

After the 2 trillionth time, just the question "Is the rollercoaster not running?" puts me to sleep.

My Favorite experience. It was a fun one. My Sis and I went to Mickey's not so scary halloween party on oct 1st '05 (our last day there) and we went on the Haunted Mansion. While filing into the "stretching room" there was a creepy CM staring us down... heheh, and before the lights went out, he walked away. Well, when the lights came back on, I turned my face to look for my sis and found myself NOSE TO NOSE with the creepy butler CM. Of course, it surprised me enough to scream.. and make the rest of the people in the room jump. It was AWESOME! My sis and i laughed so hard!

Another good experience on that trip, My sis and I were having lunch in the Primetime Café in MGM. Everyone who's been there knows that CMs there treat you like family... telling you to get your elbows off the table and to finish all your vegetables. Well, I had like two greenbeans left on my plate. My sis said to me "you better cover those up before she sees you have some left on your plate." As I was using my fork to push my mashed potatos over them, I hear the CM waiting our table LOUDLY say, "I'M STANDING RIGHT HERE!" I turned BEET red. I had to laugh. My sis still teases me about it!
"Hey, Look at that guy in the Goofy Mask!" "That's not a mask!" "Oh... Sorry Lady!"

This happened a few years ago. I had lost my annual pass the second year living down here in January. Suffice to say I almost left the park but luckily two cast members were able to get me a temporary pass.

I don't remember the name of the person but I'm eternally grateful for her quick thinking.
Friendships are a blessing. Don't waste it on people who can't appreciate it.

I went to Tower of Terror in January and met a Bellhop who I had seen on Matt's (QuickGold's) site www.towerofterror.org . I think I'll just keep his identity to myself, but I had a lot of fun, he put on a great show at load and unload, and put a lot more effort into it. It was a ton of fun.
He also let me send the AGV (technical name for the standalone elevator vehicle) back to the load area once everyone exited the elevator.
