Actually, I got those "requirements for citizenship in Texas" from a Friend that lived in Houston for a few years. He actually loved living in Texas except for the hot summers - so he moved back to Florida (that way, he gets a more humid hot summer)...

All satire aside, it's really not as bad as all that. We're not all a bunch of gun-totin', tobacco-chawin', crazy rednecks (no offense to those who fit that description...  )in Texas! Most of us are actually fairly refined and sophisticated. I just like to goof off and play the part sometimes for fun. The reality, though, is that I'm not a member of NRA, and have no interest in it. No, my pickup is not a Ford, either. It's a very nice Dodge, actually (okay, same difference...), and it is actually kinda classy-looking. I think I posted a picture of it somewhere on the threads to show the Mickey 5K decal. And Mouseoholic drives a very nice Hyundai Sonata.

Oh, and... Florida's humidity has nothing over Houston's! Ours is worse because we get the same moisture off the Gulf, but we're a giant concrete heat island!

Thanks for getting this thread back on topic, but... ummm.... well... (shuffling feet and turning red...) I haven't done anything with the lights yet. Mouseoholic has been in Australia for most of the last 4 months, so we haven't really been focused that much on the shadowbox project. She's due back next week... barely two weeks before our next trip to WDW, so I know there won't be time or resources (i.e: funds.. ) available for the lights before our trip. After that, we'll have to see how it goes. :?
By the way, I was chatting with Dichuy last night, and she mentioned that you were still considering coming up for our meet-up in January. Any confirmation of that....?

Right now I am still a 50-50. Right after the first of the year, we get my son's varsity baseball schedule. Even though if there is a conflict he wouldn't mind not going, but I can't leave if he is playing baseball. So I will know soon hopefully, and as we are just down the road, its not a big deal for a last minute trip for me!

Really sorry to hear that Jacca. I know we were all excited about having you and M Dude in the same room together! Do you have to work or can you just not make it?

So sorry you can't make it, ol' buddy. I was really looking foward to meeting you in person. I can't promise anything, because this thing is really growing, but Mouseoholic ordered enough of the "special gifts" that there just might be one left over.... depends on who all shows up. If there is, I will send it to you. It's the least I can do for my pal.

I figured this would be the best place to put these...

DW and I are expecting a little boy in April...and I always knew I wanted to draw a few things to go in a child's room whenever that time came in my life...so here are a few pictures I drew for our little boy. We're not really using a theme for the nursery...but we wanted some Classic Pooh drawings...which is where I came in. The smaller drawings were done with pencil on a medium textured paper and the bigger one was done on canvas. That was particularly tough because I had never drawn on canvas before. DW and I chose the aged wooden frames for the smaller drawings and an antique cream frame for the bigger one. Our local Hobby Lobby had a sale going on...so we let them do the framing after we picked out the frames and mattes. I think they turned out great and we'll get them hung up once we get the rest of the furniture in the room.

Left drawing is of Pooh sitting in a tree with his "Hunny" while it rains. Right drawing is my favorite...Christopher Robin putting Eeyore's tail back on while Pooh watches.

This drawing is Pooh and Piglet floating while they hang onto balloons. Had to have a good one with the two of them.

This was the one on canvas and it was tough to draw. It's my other favorite story where Pooh gets stuck in the entrance to Rabbit's house. Everyone is working to pull him out.

Wow ~ you are quite talented BIG!! I love all those drawings and remember those scenes fondly from when I was a child. Your son will be lucky to have them in his room while he grows up :D

Very nice, BIG! I've very impressed. It's pretty cool that I just watched the new Winnie the Pooh on cable (the one with Zooey Deschanel singing) and got all into a nostalgic Pooh kick (walking around humming the theme song...), and then I see this. Do you take orders?
As for my shadowbox project, well.... getting the lights installed just seems to not be in the cards right now due to Mouseoholic's condition and so forth... no time or extra funds to get the stuff and do the work. But I haven't forgotten. Some day soon, I hope....
