Best Haunted Mansion

Post by AlexLoup » Jun Wed 15, 2005 4:39 pm

Let me explain... I know someof us have not been to Tokyo or Paris for the Haunted Mansion rides but everyone of them is different, (even the DL and WDW versions) So if you also want to base it on what you hear here on Subsonic you can.

I Picked Phantom Manor mostly becasue The DL version has trumatized me as a child (very long and stupid story about a 5 year old and the jumping ghost) And I rather like Vincent Price. Plus the French like the tell stories so that makes sense to me.

You know, I've always wondered what the differences are. Is there a site that compares them all?

Don't lie to yourselves, the original will always be the best.

You could try www.doombuggies.com

I can think of a few differences. Phantom Manor is almost a new ride. The one in Tokyo seems to be a giant mess, I think that one is trying to be Disneyland. As for WDW and DL, I'll have to reread it again.

I was gonna say something like that. Ya beat me to it. Oh, and DLR has the Holiday version as well.

Oh, and "Welcome Home."

The only difference I can see is that Phantom Manor has a story and The Haunted Mansion has a bunch of little ghostly vignettes.

I like the latter than the former though.

Where is Phantom Manor? Guess I could pull up the link william_tropico posted.
I voted unfairly, cause I don't remember the one at WDW and have never been to the others. DL one is my fav cause its the one I know and DL being my favorite place in the world :D I couldnt in all good conscious vote against it

Oh good grief to myself, I knew it was in Paris, where was my head!!!

I think it is cool that the stretching room in the Disneylan HM is actually an elevator and the ceiling goes up in the WDW HM.

Since I've only seen the HM at WDW, I don't think it'd be fair to vote.

I really enjoy them all, but my HM fascination was started at WDW, and since my parents lived some time in Tarrytown (Sleepy Hollow), it reminds me so much of the Hudson River estates, as it is supposed to....

I'd say WDW Haunted Mansion, because that's the place where I discovered Disney... So it's got to be sentimental...

Reading some of the above posts i actually feel quite sorry for those of you who haven't seen the Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris! It is by far the best. They really learnt from the previous versions about what works and what doesn't. They kept all the good bits from the other rides and then filled it out with a bit of a storey line and some more up to date special effects. The graveyard sceen in Paris is especially good!

I voted for Disneyland, but to be fair, its the only one I have been on. Listening on the station, I really enjoy the Vincent Price narration of Phantom Manor. I wonder if his voice is intrinsicaly creepy, or he has just become associated with creepiness over the years.
