Why? Because it is fun to hide things and see who finds them. The imagineers are a creative bunch - they add loads of details to everything. In the process of designing something in the parks someone got the idea of hiding Mickey's and I expect it just took off from there. And it is really easy to both create and hide [to the point where one would really have to have it pointed out to notice it]. It is also fun for guests - sort of like a treasure hunt in the parks.

Yeah, I think it's fun looking for them. Maybe it has to do with knowing something that most park visitors don't. But at the same time, it's weird to see people asking around(at Disneyland!) for them. It's also annoying when you hear people discussing them on rides. Shut up already, I'm trying to enjoy the ride!:x
BTW, in Aladdin, there's a Beast figurine amongst the sultan's toys.

for a listing of Hidden Mickeys, click here for DLR, here for WDW, and here to chose any Disney Park. as far as HM, here it states that a CM stated that the official blueprint for the dining room table does not include a Mickey, it's a CM created Mickey that is sometimes there, sometimes not (at least for WDW. look at number 18)

First, LaughinPlace, you've got some cool pics on your site. Thanks for sharing.
Second, has anyone bought that Hidden Mickey book? I bought it, and it's pretty neat because it gives you a list of nearly every hidden mickey in every park, in every resort, in every store at down town disney. It's cool, but I feel wierd when I bring it to the park and read it while I'm in the line for an attraction.

The site isn't working
.
I don't know if i would buy the hidden mickey book if i had the chance. kinda takes the fun out of looking for things on your own, and then you think everything is a hidden mickey.
I once rode on Pooh 4 times in a row looking for the all the hidden mickeys. It wasn't my idea, honest.
