I keep planning on making a castle rug. I have the canvas and some of the yarn already cut, but I need to make the pattern and I am not looking forward to that.elizabethswann wrote:You should make some more rugs the next chance you get, Arete. Maybe sell some here to feed those addicted fans.
Big rugs take so long to make I'm not sure I could price them in an affordable range. Even pricing at something like $5 an hour for work would result in a price tag of about $500 for the rug I linked. (Not that I'd be against taking commissions, I could really use the money! )

You could sell the patterns. Not necessarily the completed rugs. I just don't have the artistic ability to make my own patterns, but I am great at following other people's.Arete wrote:I keep planning on making a castle rug. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I know Polynesian said she had to be done with her shirts by friday but if anyone else is interested in making Tie dyes for a trip or for aany other reason, the dyes and setting agents you really want to get to ensure a great shirt are soda ash, and procion dyes. soda ash is a white powder you mix 1 c to a gallon of warm water and pre soak your shirts to set any dyes. procion dyes are powder dyes you can get at any art store and they are amazing colors! adding a little salt to your final wash in the washing machine never hurts either.
if you are doing a bunch of shirts one color, you can get a dye called idye, you pour it right into your machine (it's a powder) and it does something like 15 shirts! you are guaranteed to have the whole family look the same! you can pick this up at the art store as well.
