Song of the South 1955 car commercial!

Post by MetalRage » Nov Wed 18, 2009 11:57 pm

I was looking around this website that has anything that was aired on tv from 1950-1999. I found Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear in this 1955 Rambler wagon with AC commercial aired in 1955. Link below.

Bet the ad was done in connection with Disney's show on TV. Also, given 1955, I bet the ad was probably shown during theme-park opening being shown on TV. Does anyone know if Ford was an original sponsor of Disneyland as well??

It could have been since I think it was at the World's Fair. I think. My history isn't all that great right now.

...I wasn't even born in 1964!

Looking at the ad, you can tell the animation wasn't done with the same level of quality as the animated movies. Wish they could have given some background as to when it aired other than 1955.

Thanks! No need for the shocked look. Some of us are of a great vintage!! 8-)

PS I was only 4 at the time.

That was a nice find. Being a great fan of A Song of the South, I loved seeing that ad.

Loved the commercial. My uncle had a rambler. Kept it until 1995. Always tinkered with it to keep it going.

What a fun commercial! I drove my grandmother's '67 Rambler when I was in high school. It definitely didn't have "all-season" air conditioning though, unless the windows counted as the a/c  On the plus side, all the boys thought it was a cool car

YES - good find. I really would like a copy of that movie. Disney is being politically correct and will not release the movie. Would be neat to have in the collection - animation mixed with live actors. No Roger Rabbit, but leading edge for its time.

We were given a copy of SotS. It came from Japan. Disney thinks it's politically incorrect.

I forgot about this, still love it! Yeah, I had to order my copy on amazon. I don't know why they just can't release it in America. Don't watch it if you don't like it....
