Opinions on Tour Plan please

Post by cy1229 » Sep Sun 16, 2012 8:40 am

Our first day at WDW this fall, we'll have a little less than half a day. Our flight gets in about 2 pm and my sister's gets in about 2:30 pm. We gave ourseles time to get checked in at Bay Lake then go to the park, hence the 4:30 arrival time. I hope this link works well... anyway, take a look and tell me if you think it's too ambitious for a family including grandparents, middle agers (that's me), teenagers, a 12-year-old, and almost-7-year-old.

Thanks!

I clicked but it says I don't have access to this plan :(
I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's not too ambitious without having seen it though. Everyone will be pumped and excited to be there. And people can always peel off and go back to the hotel early if they are exhausted. As long as your second day doesn't start out too early, I'm thinking it should be good :D

Hmmm, I've never seen one of the touring plans I guess. It looks like it would be do-able. Does the touring plans take into account usual wait times? The Cosmic Ray's might be a problem. That place is always packed! But maybe that is late enough that it won't be too bad. What time does it close?

I'm using Touringplans.com (it was only $12 for a one-year membership, totally affordable IMHO!). You tell them the date, what attractions, and what hours you'll be there. Add in the pace you want to maintain, whether you want to minimize walking or waiting in line or a balance of the two, and any meals or breaks. Then it optimizes based on historical data for that date. You can then rearrange things and it will recalculate the time. It's a pretty daggone handy thing.

This seems a bit ambitious you take philharmagic at 4.40pm it takes 15 to 18 minutes for the show itself that takes you to 4.58pm assuming you walk straight on and get seated not a normal occurrence normally you have to wait at least 5 mins to get in and it takes about another 3mins at best to get everyone seated add that to our running total and it takes you to 5.06 and according to this you have to be at space mountain at 5.08pm that's 2 minutes to get there it is Doable but I haven't allowed for exiting the theatre.

I am sure it can be done but in which alternative universe.

This seems a bit ambitious possible maybe but a bit of a push

I think your plan is definitely doable, but only if you had a smaller group. You will probably only be able to get to half of this with the amount of people you are trying to keep together.

Well pooh. You're right, of course. I hadn't considered how much more time it will take with a group of 9 to herd everyone along. I'll have to figure out how to set that differently and re-evaluate.

Sorry... I just know how difficult it is to get a larger group to stay together. Then you add in the vastness of the park, the constant potty breaks, reuniting when someone wants to run and get a dole whip or a drink. It would be very difficult.

Over the years we have gone to Disney with many groups of people, grandparents, aunts-uncles, friends. But the trips we love the most is just the 3 of us. We go wherever, whenever and we see and do a lot. Just a thought, if everyone will be moving about the parks together, build in bathroom stops, otherwise it gets crazy and time consuming to stop for someone different after each ride or attraction.

So, I would say if you are going to the parks together, build into the schedule, eating, drinking, snacks, and bathroom stops! Maybe even bring a backpack with some snacks in it like granola bars, starburst candy, and trail mix. That way it will prevent the dreaded 15 minute wait in a snack line for popcorn! That being said, I don't think it's too adventurous of a schedule and it can be done. Just be willing to let someone sit something out and meet at the next attraction if necessary. Have a super pixie dust filled great time!!!!!!!

No, don't take that wrong. You're absolutely right and I value the feedback from your highly knowledgeable, experienced brain. :)
