2012 Int. Food and Wine Festival
Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited to say that I will be in Disney World during the International Food and Wine festival for the first time ever this year!!!
I'm so excited for so many reasons. We will be there in October, which is one of my favorite times of year to visit DW - usually nice weather and low crowd levels. AND we will be there during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! So many awesome things happening at that time.
Since I'm a newbie to the IFAWF - does anyone have any tips, suggestions or things for me to think about? I can't believe as of yesterday we are already in the 180 days window! YAY!

Ditto to Belle! I think we as a family have decided that the MNSSHP isn't worth it for us (girls are 13 and 17) but we're definitely interested in the F&WF.
BTW Belle, when are you going? We'll be there Oct 13-19, then spending a couple days in Cocoa Beach.

I as well am uncertain if we will pay the extra to go to MNSSHP. Although, my 3 yr old nephew will be with us, so we might have to make an exception for him.cy1229 wrote:Ditto to Belle! Our plan is to be there from Sat. Oct 27 - Sun. Nov 4th. Have you been to DW in October in the past couple of years? It has been a long time since I've been to DW in October and am wondering crowd levels in the past couple of years.

Re: 2012 Int. Food and Wine Festival
Not since 2001. Our 2008 trip was the first week of June and our 2010 trip was in January. The first week of June was crowded, but not horrible, because many schools were still in session due to the rough winter that year. The crowds of course were very light in January but the weather was cool. Our 2001 trip was ideal. GREAT weather, low numbers, but that was awhile ago and much has changed since then.

This will be my first year not only going but also being legal TO go so I'm very excited! Perhaps I'll see you there?
Note my tickets that I get to MNSSHP are $25... just a note.

Do you get a discount as a CM, or is that the standard ticket price for MNSSHP?Soarin08 wrote:This will be my first year not only going but also being legal TO go so I'm very excited! Perhaps I'll see you there?

That's my CM price. But I can purchase for others who aren't CMs. Or at least it was $25. It's half of whatever MNSSHP is currently. Which I think it's still in the $50-$55 range.Amy wrote:Do you get a discount as a CM, or is that the standard ticket price for MNSSHP?Soarin08 wrote:This will be my first year not only going but also being legal TO go so I'm very excited! The non-CM, non-DVC-member, non-AP-holder, price is $55 advanced purchase for some dates, $58 advanced purchase for others, and $65-$68 at the gate. My parents, being DVC members, could get us the reduced tickets (but I think they only knock $5 off the price) but even then, for the 7 of us (me, hubs, sister, and our collective 4 kids) to go would be about $350. We all decided it's just not worth it, especially considering only some of the attractions are open, not all.Soarin08 wrote:That's my CM price. That's a decent discount for you as a CM Soarin' I would think that is more in the range of what I would consider paying to go to an event such as that. I would be interested in seeing the special parade, especially the gravediggers!, and getting a few pictures of characters in their costumes, but the rest of the event wouldn't be worth it to me. I'm not interested in standing in line for candy, and if there aren't many attractions open...I can see where it would be fun for people with smaller children though. But I have to agree with you cy1229, that's too much if it would be around $350cy1229 wrote:The non-CM, non-DVC-member, non-AP-holder, price is $55 advanced purchase for some dates, $58 advanced purchase for others, and $65-$68 at the gate. The first time Baloo and I went with the boys I think tickets were like $25 or maybe $28. Now they're over $65!!! OY!!!

This also applies for me for the Christmas party if anyone is ever interested in that.cy1229 wrote: The non-CM, non-DVC-member, non-AP-holder, price is $55 advanced purchase for some dates, $58 advanced purchase for others, and $65-$68 at the gate. Thanks for the info Soarin! We are trying to plan a trip for the Halloween Party this year. If you can get reduced tickets that would definitely help out. We have about 9 people that would be going.
As for on topic... The only advice I could give you Belle is don't eat prior to heading to EPCOT and get one of the F&WF wrist band cards and put $50 on it. It is so much easier to just swipe your wrist band every time you want to buy something.

Is there a discount if you do the wristband thing? Or is it still the normal posted prices?NaCler wrote:Thanks for the info Soarin! We are trying to plan a trip for the Halloween Party this year. Re: 2012 Int. Food and Wine Festival
Amy, I don't think there is a discount for getting it, it's just a heckuva lot easier than having to get out your room key/credit card or fumble with cash at each kiosk. This is a stretchy band that has a card attached to it (about the size of those keychain cards for grocery stores, etc...). You load up the card like a prepaid visa, then just swipe it when you want something. They print the receipt for you which lists the remaining balance like the DDP.
