Growing up at Disney

Post by jlpeaches255 » Apr Sun 24, 2011 8:34 pm

I have been looking over my photo collection and reliving all of my past trips to the World and I thought it would be fun to share! It is fun to watch the kids as they grow up at Disney!!

I wish I could go all the way back in time to my very first trip as a child but I only have prints of those pics and I don't have a scanner. :(

The first pics I have stored online were from one roll of film from my honeymoon. This was my second trip to The World and my husband's first. We were married in early October and, at the time, I really didn't know much of anything about Disney World. I just knew that I wanted to go and so I convinced my husband that it would be a fun place for our honeymoon. Looking back now I really have to laugh about that trip. There was almost NO PLANNING!! We went to a travel agent, I told her we wanted to go to Disney World and that was it. I suppose our minds were preoccupied with the whole wedding thing. :D
Now of course it takes months of planning, research, and a half dozen spreadsheets to go Disney (and no more travel agents!)
As it turns out October is still one of our favorite times to go and at least half of our trips have been during that time of year.

These are from MGM in 1997.

"Catastrophe Canyon" and, I guess, a Hercules show that I have no memory of!

I love this picture of my very very young husband on his way to the Tower of Terror. Sorry I don't have any pics of me to share from this trip but I looked like a child as well.
Image
If my memory serves me (which it usually doesn't) I believe this is almost all of Downtown Disney at the time!  Ok maybe there were one or two shops and a place to eat or something but I know for sure that the lego store was not even open yet.

Hopefully in the next few days I can post a few pics from our trip in 2000 and then after that it will be trips with the kids! I hope you enjoyed. :)

Old photos are always great to look at. I'd have to ask my mom where she keeps all of my old photos if I have any. I'm sure there's some even though I hate being in pictures.

I always enjoy looking back at the old photos we have from the world. Our fridge has the Chef Mickey photo from every time we ate there and it's really fun to watch my brother and I grow taller along with the two bushes/trees that were on either side of the plate.

I'm lucky to have photos from almost all of my trips. I know where the photo album is from my 1996 trip and I have pretty much every trip since stored on my hard drive, since they were all taken with a digital camera. Sometimes I will bet bored and even look back at all of my old vacation photos. It's always fun to see how things were.

Why not post some of them, Len90? Oddly enough I have found an old photo album of mine of some of my old trips to Disney. These all are pre-digitial and pre-photo CD, so it will require some time to scan them in but I am thinking this is a great topic to do so...

Yeah for more old pics!
It was some of Amy's other trip reports that got me thinking about doing this. I would love to see other people's older pics too!

We have pictures of the boys growing up in front of the BALL and on R&R. It's funny to see how they changed for year to year!!

I have some pictures of my first trip to WDW back when I was 4 years old. I'll have to see if I can find them and post...as well as others throughout the years.

One of the coolest things from those old pictures is that it was WDW's (MK) 15th Birthday...so I have pictures of the celebration parade. My second trip to WDW wasn't for another 10 years...so that was the infamous Pepto-Castle. I wonder if my parents have pictures from that trip?

All of the Chef Mickey photos are not digital nor on a disc/hard drive. I'll see what I can gather together after finals are over.

Good stuff, Peaches!

Someday I'll find the time to scan in pictures from long away, far away!

You can all get a chuckle from my 1980's shorts and my knee high socks!

Excellent topic jlpeaches, and great photos so far. I'll look tonight for some recent "old" photos and the next time I'm in J-ville I'll look for the really old ones!

A couple of years after our honeymoon we decided to go back to Disney one more time before we had kids. My mom and my brother came along with us. I only have pictures of Epcot right now. Once I have some time to get over to hubby's office I will try to scan some of the other ones.

This trip was in the spring of 2000.
I am not sure where this first pic is from but it was somewhere in Epcot. I only know that because the whole rest of the "roll" is Epcot.
My husband and I are on the left, a visiting cast member is in the middle and then my brother. And this little bunny was enjoying a snack in a garden.

An interesting Topiary and my brother hanging over the fence. For some reason my pic of SSE with the wand just won't post any larger.

Can someone help me out? I don't know where this is...

My family around World Showcase.

Well that is just a few from 2000. The next trip is our first trip with our son! :mickey:

I think it was once called the Yankee Trader, but I'm not sure of its current name.
