WDW Micro Trip Report: MouseSurplus 12/11/10

During my last trip to the world I stopped by Mouse Surplus. This turned out to be perfect timing as they planned to move out of their location up the road from Cypress Gardens and move somewhere else around the beginning of the year. When I arrived, they had an auction in place although things really didn't seem to be moving and only a handful of buyers were present.

Most of the stuff was the same as it was during my January 2008 visit viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4037&p=59784#p59787, including my beloved Horizons ride vehicle.

Still asking $10k for this, now with a big dent in the roof!

Did all the Horizons vehicles have PC speakers on the back?!...

...And a CD player??? I think these might be Mouse Surplus artistic licenses.

I wondered how they were advertising it with "sound" when it was discombobulated from the building  Doesn't really look like original equipment!

I wouldn't mind having a sea cab or two in my home :D

It's not a surprise you saw the same things from your previous visit; the price tags they have on this junk (let's face it, that's what it is) is very high!

It's a shame that they prices are so steep on all that stuff. They really have some awesome things like the Horizons car and plane form Kilimanjaro. It is always fun to check out their site and see what interesting finds they get.

I can understand them sitting on some of these things hoping to find a buyer but they used to auction the major stuff off after a while. Maybe they are using the big stuff to draw attention to their smaller offerings.

That "dent" has been there for years, now.

Did they have any of the vehicle mock-ups?

Cars, vans, and other vehicles that are just the shells and not actually functioning. They are just static models.

I am interested too if any of those are still around. They used to have the Kilamanjaro plane and a couple of other vehicles that were part of the early days of AK.

They had an Animal Kingdom Chevy S10 but I don't remember any others.

Is that the only Horizons ride vehicle they had? I ask because the guys behind WEDCon are building their Horizons simulator around one, and I assumed it was the one that Mouse Surplus had.

MS only had the one vehicle. I suspect that the WedCon guys are building one from scratch. Since it won't be moving, it can just be the guest-touching parts and no mechanics.

That will be interesting when it is finished. One practical question is how they will handle a queue. If there is one stationary vehicle running through the whole ride on a projection screen, then that is, what, a 15-20 minute interval? That means even a small crowd could wait hours for their turn!

I've answered my own question - looks like they will be offering those who purchase a 1-day pass a "shortened 5-minute ride through experience". The three-day-pass guests will get the full 15 minute ride.
