Pre-surgery Disneyland Bash!

So I'm set for my pre-surgery trip! I'm going the first week in May. I just made reservations for Bibiddy Bobbidy Boutique again for the day before I leave so I'll be able to bring my pixie dust with me when I head to Utah. I'm also going to Blue Bayou and The Plaza, but that's all for my scheduled stuff. I'm going to fly by the seat of my pants. It's a solo trip this time, but that's OK. Since my birthday is going to be while I'm recovering from surgery, I'm going to celebrate that too when I'm down there. Yay! I'm excited to go, but I'm a little scared too. It's like the spoonful of sugar before the medicine....

Great to see you can go before surgery!
Here's what I told my doctor in the same circumstance....
Here's one for the books.
In the summer of 1996 I was looking at back surgery. I had crushed 4 disc in my lower back, after almost two years my doctor and I finally agrees on a back fusion. I had been in almost unbearable pain for the whole time, you know lots of heavy pain meds and pretty much on my back for almost two years. In this entire time, besides doctors appointments, the only thing I left the house for was to see Jimmy in Lakewood amphitheater in Atlanta. As a matter of fact at that point I had not gone a year without seeing Jimmy no mater where I lived for about 15 years.
My doctor wanted to do surgery 2 or 3 days before the concert. I only had one question for him. Doc Jimmy Buffett's concert is two after I have the operation, and you have a choice, am I going pre op or post op? Because believe me Doc, I'm going! He decide to push back the operation by a week. He wanted me to recover form any rum in my system before surgery!
My surgery was a complete success, and it took me two years to recover. In 1997 and 1998 I went to the concert in a back brace.
I've put in my dues. Can I please be the Parrot Head of the week and host the show?

Sounds like a great plan, hockeygirl. Happy Birthday (a bit early) and enjoy your trip. We'll keep the pixie dust flowing for the surgery so you can just relax.
... that didn't sound too much like a doctor did it?...

Thanks MmeLeota! Happy birthday back! I'm hoping I'll be up and around a bit more by birthday time, enough to at least check in on here.

Hopefully they'll give me an extra bag of pixie dust when I leave BBB, just for luck.
Jacca, you can be my official Parrothead tour guide.

I need someone to be mixing the margaritas... You know what's funny about that story? That's what I told my surgeon. I had to go to Disney first so I could ride all the good rides so he could schedule around that.
Thanks withspirit! Pixie dust is good. And no, you didn't sound too much like a doctor. You sounded more like my dentist!
After I leave Disney, I'm flying to SLC and renting a car and driving a couple hours to visit with Soarin' for a couple of days.

Then driving back and doing the surgery thang. Oh and she'll probably be updating you guys, but I might be able to do it since the hospital has wi-fi in the patient rooms. Woohoo!

My orthopedic surgeon use's my case study to teach his interns what a motivated patient can do. He told me I was going to have trouble walking, standing, or really any kind or movement. I told him he was full of B.S. and had no idea who he was dealing with. Within 2 1/5 years I was a commercial carpenter and Sheetrock hanger again!
Don't ever let the bast*rds tell you what you can and can't do. It's all up to you and the LORD!!
Hockeygirl, if you ever need someone to bitch and moan to, I'm here! I'll also push to your limit. I am here for you!

Thanks Jacca! I'll be taking you up on that, especially the push me part.

I really want to either be back on the ice by the end of next season or back to competitive horseback riding.
Thanks MmeLeota! It is up to him. I've been praying like crazy!

The more the merrier!
Time to go work on my best "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" so I can fit in with the pirates.
