Going Back to Disney on August 7th!

Post by packwingfn » Aug Sat 01, 2009 6:41 pm

I just got back from going to Disney World for 2 weeks from June 10-June 24th and had a great time. I had a rental car for both weeks, and a place to stay that was near Disney property for free. I was able to pick up shifts at World Showcase Custodial for 4 days so I was able to re-experience being a cast member again which was great. I also met my girlfriend down there, Aurora who i've known from online for a few years now, but we finally met on this past trip and had a great time together, and she is the reason why I'm going down again, for her birthday. I'm going for a short weekend (leaving Thursday, and coming back Monday Night). We are staying at Pop Century!

The best thing right now is the deals I'm getting right now, I even decided to get the Dining plan as their offering great discounts for resorts & dining plan for cast members. This is awesome and should make for a great weekend. Since this is my first time having the dining plan, I need to start making some reservations at Table Services...Any suggestions from the following list:

Coral Reef
Teppan Edo
50s Primetime*
Whispering Canyon*
Boma
1900 Park Fare (breakfast, char dining)
Ohana*

* = ate there before but its been awhile
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Wow that is amazing that you get to go back again this summer. As for the restaurants, I can offer my opinion on most of them.
Coral Reef: We honestly did not like the food that much there. Howeve this was our last dinner and I know I was starting to feel the going home blues. If you get a table near the aquarium then it might make it more enjoyable.
Primetime: They honestly don't have the best food there but they are pretty good and are consistent for us year after year. This past trip as you can see I had a blast there.
Whispering canyon: We ate breakfast there this year. I honestly thought the food was really good but the show that your servers put on has gone down. They don't do it up like they used to. If you want the comical experience while dining then I would go with Prime time.
Ohana: We ate there on night 1 and it was excellent. I highly recommend it!
For the other restaurants I can't offer any help as I never ate at them. However if you could try and get in, I would give Le Cellier a try.

We are going back again too this summer! My poor ds has another ear infection in the same ear that he had it in when we were in Disney in June. I don't think that it fully went away.

I can't help you out with any of your chosen restaurants - sorry! If you would like opinions on a few others I'd be happy to help out.
Enjoy your next trip!!

Thanks Len90 for all the tips. I will probably try Whispering Canyon & Teppan Edo for sure. Still need to decide on 2 more restaurants. No way will we get in le cellier. Every time I try, and I always get laughed at...oh well.

There may be a few more, I will try and think of some in the next few days.

Don't give up on Le Celier. I just made a lunch reservation last week for us!

How about Mama Melrose's or Chef Mickey's? Those places never disappointed us!

My girlfriend doesn't like character dining so thats off the list. I might do Mama Melrose but we've both ate there in the past so we're looking to try something different.

That is awesome! So glad you were able to end up getting in. If you need a dinner suggestion I would advise you go with the Kansas City Strip Steak.

Prime time is all dependent on the server. If you have a great server then the experience will be amazing. We had Uncle Tim and as you van see my pictures/videos it was a blast there

Ok so I booked 4 reservations for the 4 days that I'm going to be down there with her.

Friday: Le Cellier
Saturday: 1900 Park Faire at 9, SciFi at 7pm
Sunday: Teppan Edo

I fly out monday so it's just easier to eat quick service somewhere in the park so thats why I decided on breakfast in the morning and dinner at night. 7pm is DHS park close time so we shouldn't be missing anything going around in the park at that time. While Teppan Edo & Le Cellier are both around 3ish.

Sounds like a great trip lined up for you and I wish I could go along in your suitcase just to go to Le Cellier. It is even better than the food in Canada (I type this as I sit in my hotel room in Toronto!)

Have a great trip and I can't wait to read a report and see some pictures.
