March 12-13 Trip Report

Post by sockfire » Mar Mon 14, 2005 9:25 pm

Took the niece and nephew to Disneyland and DCA over the weekend. There were several things worth noting:

Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters were open for a sneak preview. The lines were pretty short most of the day. Rode it twice. It's almost identical to the one in Florida except there are these kiosks at the end where you can email your picture on the ride and your scores. Check out how serious we look: http://disneyland.com/buzzphotos
Use code: 71165A1134BFE94CD1F47E842D575902

Also, I'm happy to report that the Tiki Room is not under new management, as some had feared. In fact, they reopened it on Saturday and we got in one of the first few shows. Everything is clean and newish looking.

Took in the two new shows at both parks: Snow White and Aladdin. The kids loved both. I thought the effects were pretty cool, especially the magic mirror in Snow White.

Unfortunately, didn't get a chance to check out the new Mansion effects, but all in all it was a successful trip. The weather was fair, the parks were a little crowded, but the lines were doable. Everyone had a good time. 8)

I've been wondering how the re-furbished Tiki Room looked like. I'm glad that it's not Under New Management. I can't wait to go in May and see it for myself.

I've been on the Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters in Florida, and wasn't too excited for that to come here. I just remember my fingers were tired after that.

Thanks for the report, sockfire!

Doesn't that mean it was good enough that you cared to shoot Zurg's deciples?

Haha, I think it was more along the lines of, "OK, i have to beat my partner's score, or look the loser!"

I went on it on Friday. It's a blast!
Here is my first run.

Now, the 2nd time I went on it, the ride stopped for Special Assistance. I found a target that was giving around 25,000 points per hit. By the time we started moving again I had racked up around 600,000 points. At the end of the ride I had above 700,000 points.

After I get off, I look at the top 10 list and see that I would come in at 4th place. I go to the Kiosk look up my picture and no score comes up! I'm so bummed.

So just what class are you in with those points there? Galactic Hero here - I got the full 999,999 in January over at WDW thanks to a few well placed shots [still not sure which ones were the biggies as I got those while moving] and a nice stop in the middle where one could fill up on 20k+ shots :D
