Disneyland: Halloween or Christmas

My family needs your help in a tough decision. We want to go to Disneyland in 2009, but can't decide which holiday. We've been there at Christmas (and loved it!), but now think we might want to see Halloween. Your thoughts?

Wish we could go twice!

You should check out Halloween since you've experienced Christmas. I've been to both Halloween and Christmas and they're both amazing but I would say to check out Halloween so you could have gotten a chance to experience that season.

I'd pick Halloween. I've never been to either yet though and hope to someday see both holidays at Disney World...not land.

We've been to both and had a much better time at the MNSSHP. You must remember this is going on while the food and wine fest. is at EPCOT!

Um, this is about DisneyLAND not WDW.......

I would have to agree with everyone else so far, go with the Halloween time. This way you can say that you have seen both and you can decide later on if you want to go back to the Halloween or Christmas time.

I know, but this is one of those things that makes WDW better!! ;+>

I'm starting to feel pretty sold on Halloween - thanks for all your thoughts so far!

My mom wants to go on her birthday (Oct 1st). What is the weather usually like around that time? And are all the decorations up, or should we wait a little longer?

well, if she goes on her birthday, she'll get in free. I believe the decorations are up starting in early/mid September, if I'm not mistaken. as for weather - http://weather.weatherbug.com/CA/Anahei ... code=z6286

just use the slider to find the dates (below the graph). looks like high temps are between 70-90. Lows between 50-70.

Thanks js! That's just another bit to add to my list. Hopefully it works out, my mom keeps talking about the commercials where the woman opens up her coupon envelope at the grocery store and Mickey balloons pop out!

Edit: Has anyone heard of or been on the Disney's Happpiest Haunts Tour? I read a review on MiceChat and was intrigued.

The lines will probably also be smaller ic October I would imagine, at least they are significantly smaller in WDW at that time.

The lines do get smaller in October, early October to be honest, because people and children are still in school by that time. If you go, try finding a way to go the first week or two in that month.

That really is a tough call - Disneyland at Christmas is beautiful but, if you have already experienced it then I would go for Halloween. They transform Main Street and DCA, it is loads of fun, and they have the Trick or Treat Party at night. I would choose................. :) - blue
