Hi! I was wondering if anyone has gone to Epcot's Tokyo Dining (the sushi restaurant) in Japan? Also, does anyone know if they take the Disney Dining plan? Thanks!

I have been to the sushi bar portion of Mitsukoshi at Japan. I don't know if they take the dining plan. I really enjoyed the sushi, but my companions didn't. They were looking for the typical American sushi fare, and it doesn't exist there. It is simple rolls with one or two items and a lot of nigiri and sashimi.

Thanks agingerbugg! I was really excited when they first opened the restaurant but we just couldn't find the time on our last trip to go there. I'm pretty sure they take the dining plan but I have no idea how it would work..do they give you a credit or something? IDK

Sleeping Beauty 5,

On my trip this past Aug/Sept I was able to enjoy a dinner at Tokyo Dining and they accepted the Disney Dining Plan. You will be charged One table service credit per guest from your plan.

It was a good meal, but not what I was expecting. I had thought that I reserved at the place that they cook the meal in front of you...whoops, my mistake.

Hope that helps...have a good time.

Thanks rknrirsctr! I guess my real question is how it works at Tokyo Dining? Since it's sushi, do they only allow you to order one order or sushi or is there a limit?

OK, I'll try to answer as best I can.

There are two menus. One that lists the basics meals (teppan, grilled, tempura, etc.) and a second menu that lists the sushi dishes. I believe the sushi dishes are considered entrees and are treated as such when it comes to the dining plan. My understanding is that the sushi entrees are of reasonable size.

I am not a sushi eater, so I can't say for certain if this is how it works. But IMO, the meal was a let down. I had ordered the "Japanese-Style Grill" Grilled NY Strip Steak. What I got was a NY strip that had been grilled and splashed with Kikkoman Teriyaki sauce.

Oh well, live and learn, I guess.

Hope that I am helping.

We ate there last December with friends who were on the Dining Plan (we weren't), and I know they used their table service for that day at the dinner but I'm not sure how the specifics worked either.

I can say, however, that the sushi portions were definitely 'meal-sized'. I don't know if you would want to order more than one of the entree-sized sushi roll dishes; it'd be a lot of sushi. The Yasai roll I had was at least 8 big pieces. Very tasty too!

I believe the restaurant that cooks the meal in front of you is the other one in Japan, Teppan Edo. That's what I've gathered from reading the menus for the two restaurants at allearsnet. We've got ressies for Teppan Edo in December and I look forward to it!!

Thank you so much for all of your help! I appreciate everyone's response to this topic. I think I'm going to try it when we go down there. I'll report how it went when I get back. Thanks again
