Cape May is my all time favorite character breakfast - the best food, the best overall character interaction. Chef Mickey's is a distant second.

Clearly preferences are highly impacted by individual experience. We loved Chef Mickey's both times we were there. I thought Cape May was just ok and the food no different than any of the other buffets. At Cape May (breakfast) we got sat in a far corner and character interaction was good when they were there, but they weren't there often.

I've done Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's and Cape May. Any thoughts on what new to try during our Feb. 2009 trip? 1900 Park Fare? Is Liberty Tavern the location that is stopping the character experience? We'll probalby do Cinderella's Table during our Oct. 2010 trip when our daughter is 4 and will actually remember it.

To answer your question on the dining changes. As of Jan. 5 2009 Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer have character dining. As of October 5, Garden Grill will only be serving dinner. This will still have the characters (Mickey, Pluto, Chip, Dale). The believed reason for this is that Disney feels that people would rather just go to the Character locations in the park (character connection in EPCOT) and quickly meet the characters there. They really want people going to the parks to sit and eat with characters.

I never had an issue with Cape May. In fact I found I was playing along with the characters more there than I had at any other place. My brother and I even had our picture taken by Goofy! There were many other things that took place, but I can't type that much! Also a great pointer to having fun with the characters at the buffets is to have a 10:15 - 10:30 ADR so this way you get to enjoy the characters when it empties out!
