Turns out it was July 17, 1955 making 2015 a rather important anniversary. Happy 60th Disneyland!

Yes, July 17, 2015 will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Disneyland. I'm not sure of everything that's planned, but I do know that there will be a new parade as well as a new fireworks show. We were there for the 50th anniversary kickoff celebration as well as the actual day. It was totally crazy, but I'm glad we were there.
In all honesty, if you can even pull off a couple of days, do it! DLR is so different from WDW! I hadn't heard about the new Hyatt. I wonder where it will be located at? There's not much room around the Anaheim Convention Center for any new buildings...unless maybe one of the existing hotels is being taken over. We're still holding out hope for next August, as the D23 Expo rolls around again.

The new one is a Hyatt Place, which I think Hyatt developed specifically to compete directly with Hilton's Hampton Inn brand. I really like Hyatt Place hotels and stay in them whenever I can on business.

Looks to me like they're opening later this month. And, using Google Maps, it looks like it's practically right across the street from DCA. Should be reasonably easy to get there! Our plan would be to cab it from Long Beach (that's going to be expensive), check into the hotel, walk to/from the park, then cab it back to the airport.

I don't think so. Parking at the hotel is $16 a day just to leave it there. Doesn't make sense to pay money for a car, and pay to park it, when we aren't going to use it. But it was a good thought.

They charge for parking at the hotel?! Oh my, I guess not then. I was thinking rent, park at hotel (and not drive to park where parking costs money) and drive back to airport. Sorry, just a small town girl who still is startled by parking meters in larger cities

Taxi will run about $100. Public transit isn't a reasonable option. Long Beach Transit is a joke out of that airport. I can ride my bike to the park faster than it takes their buses with connections.

Uber is definitely the only way to go in LA/Orange County/Anaheim. I live in California and avoid driving in the LA basin as much as possible. It's terrible.

Google it. You basically use a site that will "collect" the funds for you and then send the link and a description of the purpose to your friends and family. They choose to help you out, if they can, and even if you don't get the full amount of the airfare, it brings the cost down a lot.
