Rides that are duplicates of Disneyland

As we continue to prepare for our first-ever trip to WDW in June, we are wondering which rides at WDW are so much like those at DLR that we can afford to skip them. We know that many rides have the same names, but are they different enough that we should experience them or not?

I don;t believe there is anything that is exactly the same anymore. I think every thing that is similar (like Peter Pan, iasw, most other Fantasyland rides) have some subtle differences in the ride tracks or some thematic elements. PotC is shorter at WDW, and has many of the same things DLR has, you can probably skip that. Soarin at Epcot is the same ride/movie from what I was told in early December. The only real difference there is the queue.

One tip though, Don;t over-exert yourself trying to get all the attractions in. take your time. I understand that it's alot of money to go, and you probably won;t go again for a good long while, I really advised pacing yourself. In June, the weather is quite warm, it'll probably rain a bit each day, and you'll be walking some 3 - 5 miles or more. espeially with kids, this is powderkeg waiting to explode.

Skip out of California Soarin. Save yourself some time.

And I think Muppets and Star Tours are the same.

Personally, I find the attractions that are slightly different to be quite interesting. Fantasyland has more of a "strip mall" look in WDW, and "it's a small world" doesn't have the elaborate entrance.

On the other hand, I think the "editing" in the WDW iasw is better. I also think the WDW Pirates has a better flow (DL vets tend to think it's too rushed), although it's missing the really excellent bayou intro.

It's true that the movie-based attractions are going to be basically the same, so those make the most sense to skip. To me, anyway. (As LST mentions, that includes things like Star Tours.)

You can definitely skip as they are the same:
Star Tours
Soarin'
Bug's Life

You might want to skip:
Small World (The DLR version isn't as good inside, just go look at the front)
Peter Pan (There's not enough differences to justify the wait)
Splash Mountain (I think the WDW version is better)

Not to miss:
Pirates (DLR is so much better)
Space Mountain (Having ride audio helps a lot, the new effects are fun)

Sub: They're going to WDW, not DLR :P

So at a guess...

Skip: Star Tours (It's the same, I think), Soarin' (I believe it's identical to the DCA one), Bugs Life

Maybe skip: Pirates (if DLR is better), Peter Pan (long wait, similar ride?), Splash (Not sure how different they are)

Don't miss: Small World (if WDW is better), Space (Long wait (fastpass?), but I liked it  )

On Splash Mountain- I would say do not miss that. The one in WDW is cleaner, longer and overall more pleasant. Also, as you go down the final drop, you see the castle.

Skip Bugs Life, but go down and look at the awesome carvings on the Tree of Life.

Heh, I didn't notice the castle when going down the drop.. I was more interested in making high pitched noises and looking at Spectromagic, which was just going past as we went down the drop :)

Oh, if you're going to WDW then:
Don't skip Pirates nor Splash, it's fun to see the comparison
