I'm hoping to go to WDW in December (from 12/1 - 12/6 ish) and stay in Ft. Wilderness Campground (tent camping). I've started pricing everything out (a new tent cause mine is ripped up, travel (gas, airfare, tec)). What I need to firdure now is the weather in December in central Florida. I know it's alot more mild than where I am right now (Buffalo, NY). But, what's the weather like? I've tried looking on a few sites but couldn;t find much.
what are the usual highs/lows, what;s the preceipitation like, etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first week in December is my favorite time of the year to go. The weather can really vary, but I know it's always warmer there than back at home
December 2001 it was in the 80's every day and sunny, the nights were in the upper 60's to 70's. The night we did MVMCP was rather warm.
This past December it was cool and rainy most of the week. Dh still wore shorts the whole week, but we did break down and buy some fleece pullovers the night we did MVMCP. (Back home they had a snowstorm and 6" of snow)
We're hoping for the sunny weather this upcoming trip!!
BTW~ we've also been there in October, it's a little too warm for me then. Beautiful weather but high 80's and into the 90's a few days.

This will be my 1st december trip as well. I usually LOVE the hot weather, so it will be a change to wear a sweater in disney! I've been doing my own reasearch as well!

I went there in 2004 and 2005 in the first/second week of December... both times it was rather cool at night, definitely jeans/jacket weather. The days were nice, mornings a bit chilly, I'd say it never got hotter than about 78 and during the day wasn't cooler than 63 or so... but overnight could get VERY chilly.
Of course, I'm from California and am a self-professed weather wimp, so take that as you will.

We were there in December 2005, too, but the week of Christmas and it was pretty cool and downright cold at night. I pretty much wore shorts in the daytime with a windbreaker and slipped into jeans or cargo pants at night with a fleece. It was very "Christmassy" weather.
Make sure you get tickets to MVMCP!! It snows on Main Street. 8)

Being that I'm from NH... I'm not too much of a weather wimp. 60s and 70s would be AWESOME in Dec! Will bring a jacket for the evenings though!

Or, you could be like us and "forget" to bring cool weather gear and be "forced" to shop for Disney fleeces and pullovers.

ok, question for everyone here. I'm trying to get at least one other person to go (ideally, I'd get 3 people to go to help split the cost/experiences, but I'd settle with 1), but I'm having a hard time trying to get someone to come. at this point, I've asked everyone I know that has previously expressed interest in going when I've dreamed up a plan over the past 3 or 4 years. everyone I've spoken to has stated that they can;t do it for some reason or another (most common answer has been school, with baby, saving for something else, or don't want to camp). Any suggestions on how to get someone to agree to go? Anyone here want to go?

Some of the objections you list as people's reasons for not going are pretty hard to overcome with the exception of one - the resort stay. Are you willing to perhaps give up the camping experience and maybe stay at one of the Value properties (if you are trying to be budget savvy)? Perhaps if you sold the trip bundled with a resort stay rather than camping some of those who have objected to camping might be willing to go?
Good luck - Christmastime really is an amazing time to go.

I'd be willing to do the resort stay, but when going to travel agencies/online/AAA/etc, the price of the value resorts was double the cost of the camping. As it stands right now, I'm going to be somewhat hard-pressed to come up with the money for the camping (I will have enough, but saving money in this house proves hard), so the resorts will have to wait for another trip. If I can have at least 1 person to go this year, I'll plan another trip next year and I'll stay in the hotel.

Hey JS. Staying at the Value resorts in actually not that $$. My sis and I are "springing" for our two brothers to stay at one for 3 nights. (we're staying at the polynesian) It's only 1K for the BOTH of them from the 1st to the 4th (that includes park hopper tix and meal plan)! (and a whole lot more comfy/warmer too...especially in DECEMBER!) You could also try staying OFF site... I think some of the hotels in Kissemee go for as low as 34 a night! If you're driving then that may be a good alternative.

believe me, I know the best ways to save money down there, and staying OP is the cheapest. I've stayed OP all the times I've been down there in my life. I've wanted to stay ON property, but have never been able to yet. So, now I've decided to stay on. And the cheapest way I've found is camping. The value resorts for the time I'd be down there would be $947.08 without dining. that's before taxes, and for 5 night. If I up that to 6 nights, the cost goes up to $1,117.70 (before tax) without dining. for the exact same thing camping, 5 nights 2 people $740.52 pre tax, no dining. 6 nights $788.48 for the same. through AAA, I can get a discount and bump those down to $694.66 and $733.02 for 5 and six nights, respectively.
as far as the comfort goes, that's not a problem. we do have sleeping bags, airbeds, a heater for the tent at night and a fan for the days (not that we'd be spending alot of time in the tent during the day).
If I can't get at least 1 other person to go, I'm still going. there's no way I'm putting as much effort into this as I have and not going. I'll just have to go as a single...

I hope you're able to find a travel companion! I've camped before but never at Disney - if it's the only way to go and stay onsite for you I think you'll find it to be a great experience. GOOD LUCK!

I would be willing to go. How soon would you need to know? If I have enough days Vacation then I could, and ofcourse I have to calculate how much I will have by then to see if I could afford it.
