well, i went about 3 months ago for the first time and im 22 years old. lol, i waited long enough. some people told me it would be better to go when older. so im just wondering if you guys think its better to go when ur a little kid or after ur an adult to disneyland.

I went to Disneyland for the first time since before I had a real memory. So I guess it'd be better when you're older because then, you'd actually remember something.

your lucky the first time i went to wdw they still had the ticket books and nothing around the parks for 20 miles now look at the place jesh......

I think you missed out. Disneyland to a child can be VERY immersive. You'll actually think you're looking at pirates or being miniturized.

But, late is better than never. And, 10 years down the line you'll be looking back like we do and complaning they they are removing some of your best memories.

Let me ask you this. Were there any remarkable moments you had? If so, what were they. I've love to hear an older perspective.

It is more fun to go as an adult with your kids so you can see Disney through their eyes and watch their reactions......

Hmm, not sure because the experiences would be different. Going to any Disney theme park as a child, I don't really recall too much. Sure somethings seemed a lot more bigger, real and not as cheesy as a kid. But it wasn't until a few years ago, that I started to really get into the whole Disney fandom thing. And uh, now I'm doing the Disney College Program.

But as Sub said, late is better than never.

I voted for going as an adult, but that does not mean I would have wanted to miss out going as a kid. Going to a Disney park at ANY age is a thing of magic. I only voted for going as an adult, because you get to go on the bigger rides and enjoy them. I also imagine waiting in lines is a bit easier to do as a grown up, though to tell the truth, I don't remember the lines from when I was kid. (But I do remember the ticket books)

True that. It's like going as a kid introduces you to the magic of the parks, and makes going back as an adult even more special. And as an adult I don't get into fights with my sibling(s). [Not to be sneaky about how many sibling(s) I have!]

I was talking to my son about this the other night. We have scheduled another family trip this fall and I asked him about how much he remembers the trips we took when he was younger. He said he only remembers one thing when he was around 11. Before that he doesn't remember any of the trips. But I do, and I have pictures. The trips when the kids are little are probably more for the parents. As the kids get older they remember Disney as being "family" time.

I was 7 my first time to any Disney park and it was Disneyland. I remeber the Golden Horseshoe, Fort Wilderness (when it was open, stupid dry rot), Kissing Mickey on the cheek (yes I did and I have a picture too), and I remeber walking down main street with my parents (with my eyes WIDE OPEN as my parents say). I really liked it when I was a kid. I guess it is all up to the parents, but I do think you should go as a kid at least once.

I went to Disneyland once, and I guess I was between 20-23? My first trip to Disney World was in 1992 (I was older than the first trip, that's all I'll say).

I think WDW is much more fun for adults than kids, but all kids should have the chance to experience the magic and wonder of that first trip there.

Ok, I voted based on the way the question was worded. That it is funner to go when you are an adult. But I think that you should, ney MUST go as a child. Children become part of the whole magic experience when at Disney. And as an adult watching them become part of the magic is where the real fun lies. My daughter and son really have a blast when we go, but I think they will enjoy seeing their kids at the parks even more as an adult when they can think of their own past experiences and remember how it was.

I went to DL for the first time when I was 23. My parents never had the money to travel to California for a trip to DL. It was still an amazing experience to walk into the MK for the first time in my life at the age of 23 and see everything in person that I had grown up watching on television as a child. I will never foget my first walk down Main Street. Just a few years later WDW opened in Florida. It's a much easier trip from NY. I only started going more frequently to WDW after my nephew was born and now I am totally out of control!

It is funner to go as a kid because you can experience the magic more.

I didn't vote, I nulled my vote by hitting view results. I did this because I don't think there's a good answer. Both have their pros and cons. As a child, I think that it does seem more magic in that when you see Chip and Dale at the breakfast table you really think it's the Chip and Dale from the cartoons. When you go on a ride like Haunted Mansion it seems more real as a kid than it does as an adult (I kept my eyes closed on HM til I was 10 just because the stretch room scared me everytime I went in and tried to brave it out). On the other side the memories I've really retained over the years have been from later in life. I'm 21 now and many (but not all) of my best memories of the parks have come since I was a teen to now. I think you can really appreciate the beauty of the parks more as an adult. As a child the parks seem real but as an adult you can actually understand the artistry and imagination that went into the parks to make them feel so real. I still feel like I've been transported back to the 1930's everytime I'm walking through the queue of Tower of Terror (which although it is newer in the sense of WDW I think may be the best themed attraction in WDW, if not the world - though to be fair I haven't been to DLP or TDL). It's a different feeling, one that lets you feel like a kid again, but being able to appreciate it all through the eyes of an adult. So I think both have their merits.
