Wow ~ what an adventure! That is awesome that you were able to soldier on and enjoy what you could about the trip. Too bad you weren't able to enjoy more attractions, but at least you got one :D
Sounds like Disney did well by you and hopefully are continuing to check in with you and make sure you are happy and healing well. I know how slippery those walks can be sometimes when they are wet so I can easily imagine how you fell.
Hope to see you more here on the forum while you are healing and will be looking forward to your next trip report!

A lot of the forum regulars are now on FB and we chat there more it seems, so if you're on FB, and we aren't friends yet, let me know!
That is good they are following up. And while Disney might be obligated to, I doubt the hotel manager is, so that is nice that they are.
One of my piano student's Mom broke her kneecap a few years ago and had successful surgery to put it all back together so it can be done, it just stinks that it messed up your nice vacation :(

That would be no fun to have to be home when you are used to go, go, go-ing!

Holy COW
...Not at all where I thought this was headed--man that really stinks but I think its awesome you just made the best of it.

What do you think it was? Just water on the painted concrete?
I'm just amazed you guys persevered and stayed and even went on rides!! :)

This is a nominee for TR of the year MetalFan!
keep us posted on the healing and when you book that 6 day trip :D

So glad to hear you are on the mend. I remember my piano Mom saying the worst part of the injury was not being able to bend her leg for so long. Hang in there, it will keep getting better!
I do hope they re-think the sidewalk surfaces. Those things can be super slippery when wet. An even though they can't be helped from the elements, like when it is raining, they could certainly be sure the sprinklers aren't adding to it. Think they might have to reconsider the actual surface finish itself at some point.
Very glad to hear they are being so good to you. Sure they want to be sure you are taken care of so you don't sue, but good to know they are doing the right thing.
Was it a little freaky having so many people know who were when you were there? Almost like being a celebrity I bet!

Wow that's some trip ! (Sorry about the pun)
Amazed that you chose to carry on, but that's the attraction of Disney I expect
Good Luck with your recovery

Metalfan wrote:Happy to say that we booked our next trip! We will be going again in October. I had no idea they had a different group of people handle reservations that came from something like this. Learn something new every day! We will be staying at Coronado again because, while we had the choice of any Moderate (besides the cabins), we felt that we needed to go back there. They helped us so much and we love that resort. There will be other trips to stay at Port Orleans. We also are going to get an ECV when we go too. They will set that up for me. Doctor says it will probably take a year before I'm completely healthy and walking around for a full day on the concrete at Disney likely won't do me any good. So we'll have one just in case. If we go to a park and I get tired or my knee starts hurting we can go back to the hotel, rest and then go back with the ECV. Might as well be smart. Doctors appointment on Thursday and we'll see what he says. We might get to start bending it 10%! Wooo! lol
How exciting to have your next trip planned! :goofy_bounce: I wouldn't think twice about taking the ECV with you for the whole day at the park. With all the different surfaces and hard concrete, I would think your knee would be complaining fairly early, and then you would lose the time going back to the resort to pick it up. Unless you like to go back and rest anyhow.

What a story! I am glad you were able to maintain such a positive attitude.

And you are 100% right about the hassles of getting around MCO airport with out full mobility. I broke my leg a few years ago but had to go to Orlando for a trade show. Just like you, had to navigate around the airport on crutches because of the lack of assistance when I arrived and then again when I departed. It was not good.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
