Great photos there, Yodiwan1! Good thing about these goup trip reports is that any photo I didn't get from Mayhem Saturday I can get here.

Nope, passed on these. Alas, Disney Merchandising tasks me. I want my fourth and final HMH stain glass!

They did have, oddly enough, the 3rd stain glass from the HMH on sale over at EPCOT for the original release price of $125! That was a shocker considering the price it goes for on Ebay! Should have picked up to sell it on Ebay...

Cool video, yodiwan!

Moving along with our report…..
I can’t remember everything about Day 2 (Wednesday Jan. 4th), except that the Boilers had their own plans, and we had ours… which involved heading over to AK. I also remember that the crowds were horrible, and Mouseoholic was extremely disappointed because she had been looking forward to riding E.E. But some of the highlights of the day were lunch at Tusker House:

… and the Festival of the Lion King. We took a ton of pictures, and I had a hard time whittling them down to just these:

After the Lion King, we made another attempt at E.E., but it was just no use. You could have gone from one end of the park to the other using people’s heads as stepping stones and never have to touch the ground (which I was tempted to do, by the way). So in frustration, we bailed and grabbed a taxi to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping. We decided to have drinks at T-Rex, which I’m glad we did because it gave us a chance to unwind and improve our mood, as well as to take some good pictures inside (which I had never yet had a chance to do until now):

Afterwards, I remember doing some shopping until it started getting dark, and then catching a bus to AKL for our ADR at Jiko. Dinner was awesome, as always, except that they still didn't have the scallops back on the menu. I had a chance to talk to the chef about it though, due to a little accident that happened. It turns out that whoever the kitchen helper was that night forgot to take some of the wood skewers out of the shrimp (you couldn't see them in there), and I bit into two of them! I thought "well, one is bad enough... but two in a row?!" So I told our server about it and he told the chef, who came out to apologize. I was really nice about it, since I hadn't been hurt (could have been...). I suppose some people would have made a huge fuss and demanded a free dinner, but we're not like that. I was a little disappointed that he didn't offer something... a free dessert or something... but then again, I didn't get hurt, so "no blood, no foul" was the way I looked at it. That was the first ever thing that had ever been "less than magical" at Jiko, so I tried to be understanding. I still love the place. I'm pretty sure somebody's head rolled though when the chef went back in the kitchen.
After dinner we were wiped out, so we went back to the resort and crashed in the whirlpool bath. That's it for Day 2! :D

Festival of the Lion King is great for pictures ~ lots of colors, and something always happening. Great photos :D
I went into T-Rex for the first time this last trip ~ we didn't eat there, but after seeing and hearing about it from others' trip reports I wanted to at least peek inside. The decor is really pretty cool!
Bummer on not being able to ride EE this day. At least you had a lot of days left in which to go back!

I literally  when I read the using people's heads as stepping stones thing. Just the imagery there was hilarious. Glad you decided to not carry out testing that theory, though. I imagine you wouldn't have had much cooperation on that front. And BUMMER about ExpEv. It's kind of what makes the park for me, besides the photo ops of all the animals.

I LOVE your FOTLK photos. Ok THAT and ExpEv make AK for me. :) I totally love FOTLK. And I apparently like to type FOTLK also. haha! :ccat: :goofy_bounce:

Have you been medicating and typing? ;) (Just kidding, I just read on Club 33 about your sudafed, floaty head feeling and couldn't resist)

Awesome pics yodiwan1! Too bad you didn't get any sliver of bling for your participation in the 1/2 marathon  ;) Great video!

mindflipper - yeah, so much merch, so little $...er...time   I remember you mentioning the fact that they had one of the stained glasses there. The "Seasons Screamings" reminded me of the load area of HMH...made me a little sad. :(

Mousekedude - too bad about EE... :( At least there was still plenty of time on your trip! :D Too funny about your idea to make your way through the crowds. Great pics as always! Kind of crappy that they didn't offer you anything at Jiko for your inconvenience. I bit into a piece of plastic in a burger once at a restaurant (non-Disney) and they immediately took it off the bill and offered me anything else I wanted. I agree that they could have offered a dessert or something at the very least. Oh well...the way you handled it was the same way we would have handled it too. Glad to hear you weren't injured at all though! That could have been really bad!

Mouseoholic - I LOVE that blouse you're wearing in those pics!!! :D

T-Rex's cuisine is pretty subpar, in all honesty, but it's fun eating there for the scenery. I think Rainforest Cafe actually does a better food job. :) But again, my opinion.

I want to try Jiko! After my wonderful experience at Sanaa on Sunday, I'm eager to eat at Boma and Jiko now. I'm in love with AKL already and Sanaa cemented my love for that resort. It's quickly about to shove the GF out as my favourite.

Maaaaayyyyyybeeeeeeee..... I could seriously use a nap.

But everything I said was true. I do love ExpEv and FOTLK, and if I don't get to do those, going to AK seems like a waste of time for me. Just me. Family loves the animals, too, and I do, if I can get some good shots. If I can't, then, well, let's go ride ExpEv again.

I'm the same, except it's EE and Dinosaur for me. If those two ever went down for a refurb, I'd skip DAK for a looooong time. It just doesn't do anything for me as a park.

Oh my Mousekedude ~ I didn't see the part about the shrimp skewers at Jiko. I'm glad you didn't skewer your mouth  I never have liked those wooden skewers for cooking ~ too many splinters, even if you soak them correctly. Glad you were ok! That would have messed up your long, relaxing vacation for sure :(

Fact: People who chew toothpicks get appendicitis much more often than those who don't. Same goes for people who eat a lot of popcorn.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress.
