Is that a pic of F1gment and one of your bros at the airport? I really like that pic of them wandering off into the "sunset". :)

Glad to see you made it to Ruby's...even if it wasn't the one in Newport Beach. There's something about being out on the pier. The shakes are definitely the best part though! :D

The views from your room were fantastic! (and I love the hidden Mickey cacti...I miss seeing that back home)

One thing I always loved about our many trips to SoCal was the walkways to Disneyland always had birds of paradise growing along the paths. They are among my favorite flowers too!
Yup, that is Ward taking Mom to see the statue of John Wayne. Her friend from high school loves John Wayne and she promised him she would get a photo of the statue for him.
Ward wanted to try the milkshake but wanted to share one as he is diabetic and watches his diet quite closely. He would only get one if it was a malt and Dirk was agreeable to that. I'm not a malt fan and didn't really want a whole milkshake by myself so I let them get one to try. They both really liked it.
Mom insisted I take the picture of the "hidden Mickey" cacti! You can actually grow those cactus around here. They surprisingly winter over well ~ mine had several blooms this summer even!

I. Love. Those. Sunsets. And the view from your patio! Wow!

Ok, laugh at me, and I know your mom was doing a "Mickey ears" thing, but it kind of looks like she's doing the hand motions to the Unicorn Song.

More? Please?
Apology accepted! I wish I had spent a little more time outside when we were at the inn, but we were pretty much on the go. Sleep won out over pretty views as my brother generally got up very early to work out and I had to get Figment going!
I'm not familiar with the unicorn song...you'll have to tell us what that is! She was indeed doing Mickey ears...I think...
More will be coming, I just can't promise when ;)

Here's a link to the song:

I'll have to show you the motions when we're together in person. I couldn't find any link to a video with them. :) Good pub song.

Oh, I have heard that song before. Not sure I've seen any motions to go with the song though. Perhaps you have to have had a few drinks first? ;)

Yes, we were consistently blamed for the cooler and rainy weather while we were in Southern Cali  and we did notice the temperatures were supposed to return to "normal" once we departed...sigh.
We didn't have time to go to the Oceanarium while we were there. And no one was by the tall ships when we strolled down there so I didn't know much more than what Figment had found out about them before we left. She is the one who has toured them while they were up our way.
You're not missing much by either account, the Pilgrim is open for tourists but it needs renovations (it is donor funded) and anyone who went to 4th grade in the area knows that that ship sucks balls because you had to spend a night on it pretending to be a sailor that traveled from the east coast to here. :D

School trips always sound better when they weren't at your school ~ sleeping on a ship sounds better than going to camp and being eaten alive by mosquitoes! ;)

We also had to do a week at camp (in 6th grade), during one of the worst winters on record due to an El Nino storm. That sucked mostly because the storm kept knocking out power, which meant the heaters in the cabins would also be taken out. It was so bad that some of the required hikes (since this was educational) had to be cancelled because it was simply too dangerous.

Just an update so no one thinks I am slacking. The first full day at DL/DCA, including lunch at Club 33, pictures are uploading now...hopefully I will have time to put them all together in some sort of cohesive post tomorrow :D

Thanks ~ I was working on it earlier...the report is typed up, and the pictures are uploaded for the second day...it is just a matter of squishing them all together. And then when I put pictures in I end up writing more
