Re: Living and Working at Disney- Soarin's CM Journal
Bench means that you'll get hired into the position, but put on a type of waiting list until a spot opens up (the "pool"). So in other words, if I pass my interviews and get a spot on the bench, I'll be placed when an opening comes up. Anywhere to immediately or even a year from now. It'll all work out anyway because if I do get the job at the Grand, I'll have to fulfill my six month obligation there before moving on.
I'd have explained in the initial post but I was trying to type this and hire at the same time.... praise the Lord Sub isn't blocked at work!

Congrats, Soarin!Soarin08 wrote:And I DID get my degree! It should be coming (an official paper copy) in a couple weeks. My mom is getting it first to frame it then send it on back to me here in Florida. I also am an official Floridian thanks to the car title being Florida now AND having a Florida license plate!

Well, guys.... I have news!!! Granted Len, Jacca, M-dude, MmeLeota, and cy1229 already know... but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna tell everyone else. They just either have Facebook or my number, lol.
I got the job at the Grand Floridian!! They called about 4.30 today with the offer. So it's off to Victoria and Albert's in a mere month!!! I'm still waiting for the rest of the Guest Relations bench process but being that it's the bench and there is no instant placement, I can hold off on that. I'm so happy!!

Yay ~ congrats!! Good for you. I'm guessing the fact that you are getting some different experiences with the company will only make you more attractive to Guest Relations once a position opens up.Soarin08 wrote:Well, guys.... She aims............She shoots.............She SOARS.
Huarrah this is great news and you can still move forward to guest relations if you still want to. I don't need to ask which celebrity you would like to take on a tour of Disney.

I wonder if she truly would be able to escort him around. She might end up being too speechless in his presenceSleepy90 wrote:She aims............She shoots.............She SOARS.

Congrats again Soarin!!!! It's going to be an AMAZING experience!!!!

If we're thinking of the same person then I'd be speechless in his presence for the first few moments (WHO WOULDN'T BE???) then get over it once I got to blabbing about Disney. Although I'm guessing I'd have advance warning so I could prepare my reaction. I HOPE! I'd pass out otherwise and that would NOT be in good show!Amy wrote:I wonder if she truly would be able to escort him around. But he could catch you if you fainted! And then he would be the first person you saw when you came to!!!Soarin08 wrote:If we're thinking of the same person then I'd be speechless in his presence for the first few moments (WHO WOULDN'T BE???) then get over it once I got to blabbing about Disney. Nah, I'm sure you would be the consummate professional and do your tour well. Hopefully he would reward you with a photo taken with him and an autograph ~ and maybe some tickets to his next concert

Then she would faint again and it would just start a cycle of catch and faint! That would be really fun to watch!!!! OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!Soarin08 wrote:If we're thinking of the same person then I'd be speechless in his presence for the first few moments (WHO WOULDN'T BE???) then get over it once I got to blabbing about Disney. Congrats, Soarin! Well done! I've heard that V&A's jobs aren't easy to get. What will you be doing?

Nah, I'd be the utmost in professional with the situation. I'd be thrilled and honoured and flattered and ecstatic... but professional. And from what I know about him, I'd be treated with an equal amount of respect. Favourite celebrity for more reasons than I can count, I swear.
Thanks! I'm a reservation clerk, part time. I'll be handling bookings and such for V&A's.momeja wrote:Congrats, Soarin! Well done! I've heard that V&A's jobs aren't easy to get. What will you be doing?
