I also guess I should inform my parents I'm going, seeing as they still have no clue.

4 days, it's weird... I started counting at 96 days. This was in April when I booked the flight and the room. Sheesh, where has this semester gone?

You haven't even told them you're going yet? My Mom would be so mad at me if I did that...but mostly because she would want to go too!Soarin08 wrote:4 days, it's weird... I started counting at 96 days. This was in April when I booked the flight and the room. Sheesh, where has this semester gone?

No, I haven't... we live 1900 miles apart now, I don't worry about telling them all that I do. Plus I don't tell my dad anything anyway because he really doesn't care to hear about it. We have ten minute phone conversations about nothing.Amy wrote:You haven't even told them you're going yet? Oh, that's too bad they don't share in your excitement. Oh well, that's what us sub-siblings are for I guess huh?Soarin08 wrote:No, I haven't... we live 1900 miles apart now, I don't worry about telling them all that I do. All my mom usually says is something along the lines of "you need to do so-and-so and have a life" so anything I do tell is met with approval. Oh well. They'll know soon enough!!

They will be informed of a wedding prior to receiving the invite, believe me.Amy wrote:Like when they get the wedding invitation in the mail?!Soarin08 wrote:All my mom usually says is something along the lines of "you need to do so-and-so and have a life" so anything I do tell is met with approval. No, it would be far worse if they got an invitation to a post-honeymoon reception. I had a friend did that when he got married - he and his fiance got married in Hawaii just the two of them, and then when they got back invited everyone to a reception. Needless to say, there were many none too pleased with them...

Oh wow! Yeah, I don't think anyone would be too pleased in that situation...
Anyone have any good ideas of a good way I can identify my suitcase so I don't lose it in baggage claim? I'm paranoid... in all honesty. So I'm being serious here.

Get a bright colored ribbon and knot it around one of the handles or zipper pulls. That makes it easy to spot as it rolls around the carousel. Plus stand close to where the bags are coming out so no one can snatch it off by accident.Soarin08 wrote:Oh wow! Yeah, I don't think anyone would be too pleased in that situation...

Lol don't feel bad. Our family doesn't even have an idea that we're going. Mom has started dropping hints that we're pricing around. It's kind of funny/ironic how we tell our subsonic family before our actual families.Soarin08 wrote:4 days, it's weird... I started counting at 96 days. Len90: but Mark's been here on Subsonic, so I know he knows. If your mom knows too, then does that leave your dad as being the uninformed member of the family?
Re: Very First SOLO Trip... aka Official Vacation 7
Sounds like my family... we never inform my dad of anything. Mostly because he doesn't care.

I do this too...or sometimes I get a piece of Disney ribbon. Another idea (if you are willing to do this anyway) is to paint little mickey silhouettes on your suitcase. My aunt paints and she painted flowers on all of her luggage. No one will mistake it for theirs. I like the idea of Disney-fying my luggage since we have some plain black suitcases that blend in with everything.Amy wrote:Get a bright colored ribbon and knot it around one of the handles or zipper pulls. I tied a hot pink ribbon through the handle. My dad would flip if I did anything else, he bought the luggage so I don't want to do anything to it that might make him mad.
Broke the news to my mom. She didn't freak. I can move forward peacefully now.
