Thanks for the thoughts and concerns guys, It means alot! Hopefully everything works out for the better. For now, though, Subsonic will have to subdue my WDW cravings.

TikiTikiRoom wrote:I just wanna give you guys an update. It's looking like this January trip isn't going to happen after all. My grandfather is in failing health and is pretty much wasting away, little by little, each day. My parents informed me that they were postponing the trip until March. I have mixed emotions about all of these things and can't honestly say how I feel about any of it. But one thing is for sure. I'm bummed out. Really bummed out. :(
I'm so sorry you're not going when you had hoped. Everyone is right, though, Mickey will be there for you when the timing is more appropriate. Lately I've been missing my grandparents very much. Make sure you spend some time just asking your Grandpa about his life as a young man. I've been working on my family tree and really wish I had been more diligent in asking about my grandparents' stories and history. You might learn some really interesting things you never thought about. Hang in there!

So I just got an update that we'll be in the World from March 2nd to the 9th. We're also still discussing the dining plan, ya know with all the meals and snack plan things. My parents are currently dieting and thus wondering if there are "less filling" options. Because we've seen people with the dining plan order dessert, when they didn't even want a dessert. Are there dieting options for my parents? Also, I'm still eyeballing all the different restaurants around the world that are worth checking out.

OH!! I forgot to mention that we are no longer staying at OKW. We got bumped back up to the Savannah rooms at AKL! Super stoked about that. One of our favorite restaurants is at AKL too so that's exciting. Is that more casual place where we can refill our mugs? Or is there a different spot.

First of all, congrats on having the trip back to a confirmed set of travel dates. And bumped up to AKL to boot! :goofy_bounce:
It looks like the casual dining restaurant in AKL is The Mara. I've never been, but I assume it is like any of the hotel's food courts and there is a drink station there to fill your mugs.
As far as the dining plan, you don't have to order the dessert. Or if you do, you can simply taste it and not eat the whole thing ;) I know they were quite accommodating for us this past trip substituting apple slices or carrots for french fries, and bottle water for desserts. We learned to ask, the worst you will hear is no, but they seemed more than willing to substitute if you were on the dining plan. They wouldn't substitute anything if you weren't on the dining plan which I didn't quite understand :?

Thank you for that information! My mom located some info on the dining plan via Allears last night and I went over the list of Quick Service, table top and signature restaurants, checking off the ones I wanted to go to and where I knew we'd be going. However, at this point we have Epcot totally covered food-wise. Tangerine Cafe for lunch, Le Celier (sp?) for dinner one night, and then the Coral Reef another night since my sis wanted to go and she said she liked it last time she went. I was skeptical about the Coral Reef place as i've heard many a mixed review about it. Moving on I also checked off the Backlot Express place in HS because we ALWAYS eat there, good food so I don't mind one bit. I also checked off the Flame Tree BBQ as that's another winner. At MK, I knew we've eaten at Liberty Tree tavern before but I wasn't sure if we enjoyed it enough, so I went ahead and checked off Pecos Bill's as I've heard good things, and the Cosmic Cafe as we've eaten there before and it seemed to be a MK staple. And because we're staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (for the first time ever!!) I checked off Jiko for dinner one night, as it's an amazing restaurant and I believe my parents enjoyed it last time. My mom also mentioned Whispering Canyon for another day because we all seemed to enjoy it every time we've been (except for that one ketchup incident with my sister, which I'd rather not get in to...).

at DHS you need to try the drive in, and the 50 prime time... food is great, but you are there, in those restrauants, for the atmosphere!

You are going to make ressies for all those table service restaurants right? You need to plan ahead or you definitely won't get in to Le Cellier :(

And keep in mind that LeCellier is now a Signature dining place, which takes TWO table service credits per person, rather than one. I personally would eat at the Japanese steak grill place before LeCellier.

Yes we've already reserved a spot at LeCellier. We've never tried it but we've heard good things. Also Cy1229, I love the Teppan Edo, but we've eaten there pretty much every time we've gone, so we're mixing it up a little.

So I checked to see what time we would be en route to WDW and I THINK we'd still be on our way down right now. We would have left around 1:30pm. I also have an app on my phone for park info and found that the wait time for Test Track was "moderate". Sounds like the weather is gorgeous down there right now!

Hopefully it is just as nice when you will be there in March! And maybe Test Track will be light instead ;)

So now that March is right around the corner I figured I'd re-up my thread! Hopefully everything works out this time and I can say "Hello" to my Home Away From Home on March 2nd.
