She should have kept the bruise secret here on Subsonic. Next thing you know the people around here are going to banging into things just to see if they can get their own Mickey shaped bruise...

Hopefully I will get my comp back tonight or tomorrow and will be able to joint the rest of the world while not at work. Hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far!

Hey, dichuy!!! Long time no see!!!! Yes, you soooooooo need to find a way to be there with us!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
Mousekedude, I'm trying! I may have to fly out after work Friday which means I'd get in really late Friday night. Then leave either late Sunday or very early Monday and go straight to work. I'd meet you all for Wishes definitely. I'm not a big fan of the German place so I may go get tacos (or just eat my weight in school bread ;) ) and meet you when you're finished. I'm very flexible. I'm trying to decide what to do for my room. I'll keep you posted.
Step out to your left please. When the car stops, step out to your left.

During my travels this afternoon and evening I was running through the numbers in my head trying to figure out if I could split a room with you, but I just think with airfare, and losing a day or two of work, and then park tickets and the room....I don't think I am going to be able to swing the meet-up this time around :( I know you didn't ask if I could be your roommate but I was hoping! I hope you'll be able to figure out some cheap accommodations and work it all out!
And if I wasn't allergic to coconut, I would have been all over that school bread ~ that stuff looked tasty :D

Amy, that would have ROCKED!! I would love to be roomates sometime if you ever want to! Well, the airfare is gonna run me almost $500 (I usually pay $220 to MCO from NYC) so by the time I add 2 nights in a hotel it's not looking too good. I was going to use miles but we need to keep them for something that came up with the family. I'm gonna keep looking though.

By the way, the toasted coconut is only on the top so you can brush it off.

That's too bad about the miles. I thought you were going to be able to go pretty cheaply...I wish I knew someone in the airline business. Free tickets would be a pretty nice Christmas gift :D

Major bummer Amy!!! :( But I know we'll be able to meet up soon on our own...we've got to plan a Chicago meet up for us midwesterners. (I've got to get used to that  )

So once again, Murphy's Law kicked in and things have changed again....hubby's work changed their relocation policy and there is a cap on how much they will pay for the relocation. With this whittled down budget and all this last-minute frustrating waiting to find out what's going on, we have no choice but to do the whole thing on our own. (the original plan included movers to come in and take care of everything) So we are now left with 3 days to get everything packed up, find a truck and head out....we have to be there by early next week. UGH!!!

So...we are still going to make the trip since we already have the plane tickets and the room. But I'm not sure of the extent of our participation...we will for sure meet up for Wishes! But I'm not sure of our park ticket situation, nor am I sure of our dining situation yet. Hopefully I'll know more fairly soon since the trip is coming up fast...

This doesn't help your cash flow problem right now, but make sure you keep receipts and document everything. You can deduct moving expenses if the move is a certain distance away from your original home, and if it's required for work. That is, if you itemize your deductions. You could, in the long run, see that money back.

Is 2011 over yet????!!!!!!
Seems like there's always another fly in the ointment!! But at least you'll still be there in January to meet us, and that's what counts! Pixie dust for you and C-bog!

By the way, the curse of 2011 has struck again. Mouseoholic was supposed to be home from Australia today, but due to a personnel glitch at the project (long story) she is stuck there another week. That means she won't be home until the 20th, which probably won't leave us enough time to get everything together that we wanted to do for our fellow M.M's. We're going to have to be content with bringing the gifts we already have with us and handing them out there, and we're not going to be able to do the other stuff we had planned (iron-ons for t-shirts and stuff). Sorry about that, but at this point we'll just be happy with getting there and seeing all you guys! :(

M-dude... Please don't worry about providing us with gifts. After the craziness of this year, it will be enough just to have everybody together again! You guys have done enough just to try and arrange meeting times as well as get ready to run/walk. We really appreciate everything. Get your wife back safe so that she can rest up before the festivities.

MmeLeota - Hang in there! I know a big move is tough on you financially and emotionally. While I really want to meet you and C-bog40, I'm sure we would all understand if you need to cancel your trip and plan it another time that is less stressful and more financially viable. Don't feel like you are letting us down if you don't show up. I know we will have other chances to meet up. If you or C-bog need anything, please let me know. If I was closer, I would definitely help you move. Check on Penske. I found them to be the cheapest option for a moving truck. Plus they give you more mileage than UHual.

ACK! How can they expect you to move and not help you do so?! :(
There will definitely have to be a Midwestern meet-up. You'll get used to it! But you have to promise not to call our area Michiana  That term has become so ubiquitous to describe the Michigan/Indiana border area that school children wonder where it is on the map ~ and they wonder why kids fail on standardized testing :x

M-dude, I echo NaCler's sentiments exactly! I am looking forward to meeting up with you guys so much...gifts don't matter. I was originally going to do the same thing, but with the way the last couple of months have gone (not to mention all of 2011... :? ) it turned out to not be possible...but I do have a little something up my sleeve... ;)

Thank you for the thoughts NaCler. We actually had already looked into Penske as a "plan B" when things started to look dim yesterday. You're right...they had the best deal. We got the biggest truck available and we've enlisted the help of my brother-in-law to drive the truck. There isn't going to be space for hubby and I plus 3 kennels in the truck, so we have to drive the car. We just wish we had known it was going to come to this earlier, and we could have had everything much more organized. We had concentrated on going through and getting rid of/donating some uneeded items rather than packing since we thought that part was going to be done for us.
We will be going on our trip no matter what...we have been looking forward to it for so long, and after this stressful time, we need a break! We may have to get a little creative with some stuff, but we will be there come h*** or high water...

I promise not to call it Michiana...though I kinda like it ;) (I suppose one could call our area Willinois or Illisconsin... )
At least the move will be covered...we are waiting for the funding to come through, but that funding will have to take care of breaking our lease here, the truck and all the supplies, the gas/hotel stays/food to get there, and the move-in deposits/rent. Unfortunately if there is anything left over, we have to return it back to the company...they want all the receipts and everything has to add up...but if we have figured it out right, we should have just enough to cover it all.
It does suck that we're expected to pick up and move with about a 4 week notice (one of those weeks was spent back in WI) and a last-minute change that affects everything.
