I think one of the most important things we can celebrate at the meet-up in Jan 2012 is that 2011 is over finally once and for all!
Amen to that one! I'm so tired of this year- definitely was a crazy, stressful, emotional roller coaster!

Mouseoholic wanted me to let y'all know that she's thinking of you from way down under, and wanted to share with y'all some of her experiences. So here's a link to some of the pictures she's uploaded to her Photobucket account. These are shots of the country around Perth, plus some random shots of where she's staying. Enjoy.

Nice! Australia has such a wide and varied landscape! I would say we fed the same Kangaroos, but I wasn't in Perth at all. Looks like about the same experience though. Love the rainbow! Her apartment looks pretty nice. Looks like there is plenty of room for you too M-dude. Could you take your business on the road?

Hubby told me to go down and get my fix (I don't need a fix, DO I?) ;) I was thinking of the weekend of 7-8 (not sure of exact dates). I then remembered you guys were meeting up! I'll let you know if boss gives me the thumbs up!

That's great news dichuy :D I'm envious ~ you seem to travel a lot! Won't your husband be able to come too?

I'm sure we can make room for him. If you want to join us for dinner at Ohana let Mousekedude know in case he needs to modify the reservation...

Chuy works weekends so he can't come. Plus he isn't a huge Disney fan (yet!). Unless I can find a roommate I won't be able to eat at the big sit-downs as I trying not to spend much $$ (I have an old hopper pass from 1993 I'm using and miles for the plane). I'm still reading through all of the thread to see which days would be best for travel, then I'll speak to my manager.

I wish I could... but sadly.... nope. :(
Interestingly, the project was so desperate to get her to move there permanently, that they even offered to hire me at six figures, plus pay for our housing and transportation costs while we were there, plus let us travel home twice a year for two weeks at a time on their dime... all if she would just agree to stay on with that project for the duration! But sadly, she would actually be taking a demotion to leave her corporate position in order to dedicate herself full time to an individual project. Plus, the project is expected to last 4 to 5 years, after which... what would we do? So all things considered... naw, it wasn't worth it.

Good point. Here's the deal, though: so far we've been unable to modify our reservation, though we've tried several times, so I can't promise it'll happen. Bottom line is that it's going to be "first-come-first-served" as far as who sits at the table with all of us. But that doesn't necessarily mean that others can't come in and sit at other tables... and then join us for the big meet-up on the beach afterward. But we'll keep checking, though... sometimes things open up at the last minute, and if we can increase the ressie, then by gar you can bet yer booty we will!!

Wow ~ that would have been cool! Smart thinking looking at the long term though :D And I'm sure the novelty of an overseas location wears off once you are living there for an extended period of time. Except if it was Tokyo Disney

Okay, I need to give y'all an update on our beloved Boilerbabe: she's been undergoing rigorous physical therapy, and being the trooper that she is, she's been pushing herself pretty hard. So the bottom line is that she's already back to running... although not as much as normal, for now... and she's bound and determined to be there in January and run the "half" as planned... even if she has to go easy and not make a very good time. Interesting little tidbit: she has a lot of bruising from her intense physical therapy, and one of the bruised areas turned out to be in the shape of a hidden Mickey!! A good sign!! :D

That is great that she is back to training. I hope she doesn't over do it though!! How fun to have a hidden Mickey bruise :mickey:
