Amy - It's definitely the carrot cake cookie at the writer's stop. I know it doesn't have any coconut in it and it is awesome as I don't even like carrot cake! That would have really spiked F1gment's sugar levels up a tad.
Also, I'm sorry you seemed to have bad luck with guests ruining attractions for you. I'm very glad you got to do a couple repeats during the trip.

It just surprises me when adults are loud and obnoxious as these guests were. You can kind of forgive teenagers since they are still young and impulsive ~ I'm not as forgiving of annoying adults I guessNaCler wrote:Amy - It's definitely the carrot cake cookie at the writer's stop. I did learn though, if you have had a bad experience on an attraction, if you ask the CM nicely, you can probably go right back on it

Maybe those adults can't hold their "ambiance" as well as others...Amy wrote:It just surprises me when adults are loud and obnoxious as these guests were. DAY 6 - F1gment and Amy visit EPCOT and go SHOPPING!!
It was cold in the room overnight so I cranked the heat to 76. That is an expensive luxury we do not do at home! Needless to say, with the nice warm and cozy room, we both slept really well overnight!
I ate a quick brekkie at the food court which was packed!! Sorry, no photos, and brought some food back for the Momma to eat in the room.
I booked it over to the bus stop, waited almost a full wait-cycle for the bus, and made it to EPCOT a little after 9. Checked in a guest relations for the 9:30 Segway tour. They told me to come back around 9:20, so I went off and took some photos, including finding our "Leave a Legacy" engraving.
Saw Daisy on the way in...

A few photos of Spaceship Earth ~ I could photograph this for days on end and still not get tired of it

No need to adjust your monitor, I meant it to look like this

Yup, that's about what we looked like in the 90's!

Yes, we own one of the metal portraits on the hideous stones that invaded the beautiful EPCOT entrance. I like the idea, I'm just not crazy about the monoliths they are displayed on!

Came back just about 9:20 and felt everyone's eyes on me as I came in. Evidently they were all waiting on me
The CM tour guide stepped on her Segway and led us over to Segway Central in Innoventions. We had the safety talk in the little dome thingie...

and then it was time to meet our new rides. Here is mine...I love the smiley Segway key display!
The smiley face means the Segway is happy! And a happy Segway means a happy rider on the Segway!

We had about a 60 minute training course to get comfortable with the Segways. One guest opted out of the tour after the training. The rest of us were ready to go. Yee-haw! One CM led the Segway parade, another brought up the rear. Point of interest, the tours have the right-of-way if you see them heading around EPCOT. We toured through the various countries with the one CM giving us little tidbits of information as we went. We got to play around a bit in the open area in front of Italy. That is where the CM's took our photos if we wanted them to, and we could play around a bit.
Hands at 9 and 3 - check. Finding Nemo bandaid on finger - check. Breaking the rules after this point by having my camera out and taking photos and videos while on the Segway - che, errr, ummmm, we'll say no...

Then it was time to visit some more of the world showcase. A little bit of excitement in China as one of the guests, two Segways in front of me, went up and over a little foot bridge, and then off her Segway. Her husband, directly in front of me leapt off his Segway which ran straight forward and into a bush. The rest of us, as we had been directed in the event of an emergency, screeched to a halt and maintained our position. I was at the top of the foot bridge so I was giving the servos a really good workout. The lead CM directed us all to find a place to safely lean our Segways while she was dialing Reedy Creek emergency services. I parked my ride, went over to the lady and was asking her questions and trying to determine the extent of injuries, if any. She of course at this point was more embarrassed than anything and just wanted to get up and get on with the tour. We got her up, determined she really was ok, and off we went. I must admit the CM handled the situation pretty well and the tour group remained calm. We saddled back up and resumed the tour from there. We didn't go all the way around the showcase, returned back to Segway central, got a tour souvenir ~ a Segway pin. And I would say that was the only odd part of the tour, there was no real "end" to it. The CM's didn't really say anything other than "leave your helmets with your Segway" I suppose they were thinking of the paperwork they would have to be writing up before leaving, as they were talking with the lady who had fallen during the tour as we kind of milled around and trickled out on our own.
Bye little guy, it was kind of an abrupt end, but we had fun today

I went on the Sum of All Thrills in Innoventions ~ that is an awesome attraction and I had a thrill score of 850 with 4 inversions.

And that is when I met up with F1gment for the rest of the day...

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
F1gment and I hopped the ferry to the Morocco dock, and made our way over to the American Adventure.

I LOVE the rotunda in the American Adventure!!

It was almost showtime as we arrived so we didn't get to listen to the Voices of Liberty on the way in, but we did get to hear a little bit on the way out.

I really like the spirits they have along the edges of the theater...

The Spirit of Adventure is my favorite!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the show...

I always liked this scene because this is one of the ones we saw up close when we took the big Behind the Scenes tour...

This scene reminded me of the weather outside! A balmy 54 for a high and down to 33 at night

Gold! There's gold in them thar pans!

Along with the main song of Golden Dreams, the haunting Two Brothers is my most favorite song in the attraction...

This scene looked so tiny from our vantage point up at the back of the theater...but I know they are not small...

I like this scene too...

It always amazes me when he successfully twirls his lasso

Much credit and gratitude to the real Rosie the Riveters...

Awesome closing to an awesome show!

While we were listening to a few minutes of a song from the Voices of Liberty, I recognized someone from another Disney blog, from looking though his photos. He and his wife boast how they stay in the parks until at least 3 am every night of their stay. He does have some really nice photos but I think it is kind of rude on their part to push it that far past the closing time when employees are certainly needing to have guests out of the parks so they can complete their duties. But, I digress....here is a photo of the Voices of Liberty in their holiday finery...

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
Interesting report. I would assume the CM's were probably thinking about closing out anything with the injuried guest. Interesting pictures of the segway tour...even if you weren't supposed to technically be taking them. It does give an interesting perspective to the parks. I do like that you saw Daisy out and about. She seems kind of tough to find.
BTW: I know that is Friendship II in the background of that picture. Did you notice the boat letting off black smoke anytime they hit the throttle? Also did the ever clean the back of the boat off. The rear of the boat below the American Flag was almost black from the exhaust and dirt.

I didn't notice any black smoke, but I will go back and check my other pictures to see about the back of the boat and the American flag. That is sad if they kept allowing that to happenLen90 wrote:Interesting report. I would assume the CM's were probably thinking about closing out anything with the injuried guest. ...the rest of Day 6 is coming, I got as far as I could before the crashes started happening with more frequency. Hopefully the third time will be the charm at the apple "genius" bar! I think today I am going to try speaking with a manager!

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
A Lie. Only way security will allow any guest to be in the parks until 3 a.m would be to have the parks close that late, which only happens on peak nights (i.e christmas/new years/independence day). Security will start making it a point that you have to leave at least an hour after a park is closed, depending on the security CM of course.Amy wrote: While we were listening to a few minutes of a song from the Voices of Liberty, I recognized someone from another Disney blog, from looking though his photos. That's the way I remember back on Dec 4th. Once the park is closed, they start "herding" the guests to the exits. I can't see how someone could stay late, unless some CM was breaking policy/procedure, and as far as I am aware a CM could lose their job doing that.

Interesting! I wonder if they were there in the summers until they were open really late, and then they were just staying the hour or so past closing. They made a point of boasting about staying until 3 am most nights they visited....MadEye wrote:A Lie. Well, it's official ~ the Amy and F1gment portion of the mayhem is on hold until my laptop gets gutted and reset with (hopefully) working components...sigh...
I might try a little updating of my DLP and TDL photo trip reports since those photos are also on our desktop...

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
Most people who "boast" as you put it, have no clue what they are talking about. Like I said, only time there would be an inkling of a chance of being in a park that late (or early depending on your point of view) would have to be a holiday or one of the parties at MK (MVMCP and MNSSHP) when the parks are open till the a.m. Most of the CMs would be in bed by 3 a.m. and security would probably make it a point that they have to leave the park.Amy wrote:Interesting!
