F1gment and Amy invade the studios...Day 5
Well, this morning dawned bright and early and I checked the weather hoping for some warmth and sunshine from the sunshine state. We had made Segway tour ressies prior to coming down to WDW. When Mom hurt her back, I changed the ressie in the hopes that she would be feeling up to the tour later in the trip. After hurting her knee on Day 3, she sadly agreed that she would have to pass on the Segway this time around. There was a 48 hour cancellation policy so I called, once again, to see if I could cancel her ressie, and switch mine back to the original date (on our day 6) because the date I had switched it to was forecasted as having a 90% chance of rain. Now the tour still goes on in the rain, but you only do the inside portion and no outside, which didn't sound like as much fun. Luckily I was able to cancel Mom's ressie, and move mine back to the original day, although the 9:00 tour had been filled and I had to go in the 9:30 tour instead. Ok, if I haven't lost anyone yet in all the rescheduling/cancelling/re-rescheduling, we'll get on with day 5!
Mom had been able to sleep a little better the night before but was still pretty tired so we made plans to meet at Hollywood Studios in a few hours. Then I was off to Animal Kingdom. I was pretty happy to be on the bus a little before 8 since I am of the go-go-go mentality and the later mornings had been driving me a tad insane. As we drew closer to the park, I am listening to the announcement, "Welcome to EPCOT..." and I sort of chuckle thinking I had caught the bus announcement in a mistake, because obviously I was on my way to the Animal Kingdom! Then I looked out the window, what the...? Oh man!!

I had obviously been thinking about EPCOT because of rearranging the Segway tour and didn't notice that I got on the wrong bus at the hotel

So I asked the bus driver what was the most
fun way to the Animal Kingdom. He was not in the same sort of playful mood I was in, rolled his eyes, and recommended getting off here at EPCOT, walking around a few bus stops and waiting at the AK stop. So, since I had shucked my coat when I got on the bus since the heat was set at "cook", I now had to quickly put it back on to face the arctic chill that was enveloping Florida. Ok, it was only 39 degrees, but that was cold because I had shorts on!!
I do think they do a very nice job with their signage

I walked over to the bus stop and waited...and waited...and waited...I was joined by a CM not too long after who was getting more and more impatient for the bus to come. We waited nearly 1/2 hour for that bus. In retrospect, I think it would have been much faster to ride back to the resort and catch the bus there. Anyhow...the bus finally came, and we were off to AK, the bus driver, the AK CM, and myself. It was a quiet trip

I think it is pretty cool how well themed the Coca~Cola vending machines are to each park...

This looks more like what I was anticipating when I set off this morning!

I arrived at AK, saw It's Tough to Be a Bug...

I love these little guys!!

Then I headed over to Expedition Everest...

and rode Expedition Everest twice...
The queue seems very authentic...

This one came out blurry, but I like it

It really is a
big lift hill!

Boy am I glad the ride seems to stop here every time I ride

The Tree of Life almost looks tiny from up here!

This photo is an action shot ~ that means it isn't blurry, it's action-y!

I don't think this refreshment stand was ever open while I was here, but I was impressed by the paint job...

Love this area on the way out of Asia...

I like these feetsie prints on the bridge...I would have loved to have been able to make them!

Bye-bye EE, I will be back to ride you again later this trip

Alas, no time for Finding Nemo today

I'll leave that in Dory's capable fins

Ah, here we are at Dinoland...not my favorite theming in any of the Disney parks, but I try to enjoy it for what it is...

This little guy isn't particularly cute, but I like that he is made of recycled materials

Dinosaur, I come in peace, please don't try to spit me out of the vehicle onto the attraction floor like you
almost (thanks NaCler for noticing!) did last time

I really like their institute medallion...

The little details continue to amaze me here at Animal Kingdom...

Oooo! An owl!! But no time to stop today...

By this point I really needed to leave to catch up with Mom in HS, but I wanted to see Devine! I asked a CM who consulted her little CM schedule and said Devine was indeed out and about this morning and told me where she normally could be seen. I rushed off in that direction and lucked out when I saw Devine walking over the bridge on the way to her next resting, thoughtful spot.

You really could walk right by her and never notice she was there...

She really is graceful and quite beautiful to watch as she moves at the speed of sloth!
The angle of the sun and the crowd of people (plus a Disney Photopass photographer) made it a bit of a challenge to get a good photo...

I think this one is my favorite of Devine...

I took a second to talk to the animals...

Take a few last photos of the amazing Tree of Life...

My favorite drink in another language...

It is so peaceful and serene here in the AK...

A spoonbill in the Oasis ~ I love these birds, there are so cute

I wonder if he is one that I used to visit when they lived on Discovery Island?! I'll have to check my old photos to compare their ID numbers

By this point, I knew I really had to book it over to HS to meet the Momma, so I raced back to the bus. I paid careful attention and this time I managed to get on the correct one

(And my "fixed by the genius bar at the apple store" computer has crashed twice during this posting so I will leave part two until tomorrow...)
