A good friend of mine asked DW and I if we would like to go down to WDW with him and his wife. He's in the National Guard (used to be in the Army) and can get a crazy discount on park tickets. This was the only major thing keeping DW and I from going down...the astronomical price of park tickets.

So now I just need to figure out a few things.
1) can we still afford it...because flight costs have gone up?
2) do I have the vacation time...because I'm already planning on spending a week at the beach this summer?
3) Will we have someone to keep DS while we are gone...because he's still too young to go?

I'm praying I can figure out how to answer YES to all three...soon!

Ok...wow...Southwest just released $49 flights for the dates we want to go!!!!!!!!!

That saves us over $200 on round trip flights...

Now to see if there are any open rooms at the DVC resorts for that weekend!!!

Then I'd have to convince DW to spend the money. Wait...shouldn't that be the other way around?

I'm REALLY excited at the $49 fares! I hope you get to go, I know that when DS was born you were wondering when you'd be able to get back to WDW.

Sadly it looks like we won't be able to make a trip this year. We'll be at the beach just a few weeks before our potential WDW trip...and our parents won't be able to keep DS during the time we would be at WDW.

Plus we have a list a mile long of things that need to be done/purchased before we can go to WDW.

So I will spin this in a positive way. We are going to save a portion of what we would have spent on a WDW trip this fall...and put it toward a trip in 2015 to take DS before he turns 3 (so he gets in free).

seriously...since when is DW the level-headed one when it comes to spending money?

After thinking it through...if I had to pick between an adult trip to WDW in September or a trip in 2015 as DS's first trip to WDW...I would go with the latter every single time.

I'll try to get some video of him going nuts whenever he sees Mickey in YouTube WDW videos that we watch all the time. If he doesn't end up in the CP when he gets older it will only be because they aren't doing it then.

yeah...we are splitting a week with both parents...first half of the week in Panama City and the second half in Destin

who knows how much park passes will be in 2015 too...so getting DS in for free will be huge

Yeah I know...it would be a 6 hour drive to Orlando from that area...which isn't easy when you already drove 4-5 hours to get to the place you are at.

I just need to find a job near Orlando or out in CA. Disney has some openings in Glendale for what I do.

That would be awesome! As much as I would prefer to live closer to WDW with all the park options, Cali weather is definitely nicer

Come to California!! Glendale is a great community. And the drive to DL from Glendale is super fast at 7am on a Saturday. I know this from experience. We got there well before 8am. Granted my driver was not quite as disciplined as I about not exceeding the speed limit.

I hope everyone was able to take advantage of those flights! I am so jealous. We never get $49 anymore, but we did get $99 which is great for us.

Unfortunately, we are in the middle of closing on a VWL contract and our points won't be loaded until Sept. I think that will be a little too late for me to get a room in Nov, so we aren't booking flights.
