So glad someone got the reference! And no, I didn't watch the original shows, I saw the reruns like everyone else ~ I'm not
that old
I think we like Animal Kingdom because we like animals a lot and have no shortage of things to photograph. Plus they have some awesome food at Flame Tree BBQ

I noticed the reference also...thanks for getting that song stuck in my head (Cindy's lisp included...)

I am sooooo enjoying this report...I love all the pics and the sprinklings of NaCler all thru it as well.

There is a lot to take pics of at DAK, but that's about it. We aren't even going there on this upcoming trip.
Great job Amy...I hate that we won't see you on this upcoming Mayhem trip, but I think it's inevitable that we all meet you at some point.

In my defense, my avatar is a tribute to a wonderful pair of Subsonicers that may have sent a surprise package to me for Christmas. Once I feel that enough homage was paid, my avatar will return to its original splendor. The use of this avatar in no way reflects my true feelings of the wretched bear...

Great job with getting pictures on the safari. The male lion is one of the hardest animals for me to ever get a picture of. In fact, I don't ever recall seeing any of the lions active

Ahhhh OK. So noted.
I do find humor in the fact that some fellow SS'ers got you (of all people) a Duffy Bear..

Yeah, the song goes through my head every time I see it mentioned in this thread now ~ you're most welcome

And why yes, I
am whistling the song right now

And I most definitely must meet everyone else at some point!!! It simply gives me yet another reason to make sure I get back to see the mouse

When I read, and I quote the man himself, "no Duffy's in this household...ever!" (Here is the link to the original thread if you are interested...

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!
Thanks, however, for still thinking us wonderful

It's ok... A small consolation is me knowing that a vinylmation also graces her household against her wishes! Haha..

Unfortunately, the male lion tends to be least active during the mid-day hours while he is his most active during the dark hours of the night...

Is he actually active at night?! Do you know if the lions are taken backstage to pens like most of the other animals or do they get to remain out? Do any of the animals really get to stay out in the "open" or are they all taken backstage for safety purposes?

ALl of the animals are taken in. The lions actually respond to cues at the end of the day...if you're on one of the last safaris you have a good chance of seeing him walking. the rocks up front are also heated in an attempt to dram them closer into view of the trucks.

I wondered if all the animals had to be in at night. I'll have to look back at our safari pictures from last year. We were the absolute last vehicle out so we actually missed a lot of the animals because they were already waiting at the backstage doors to their enclosures!

Absolutely beautiful pictures Amy!!!! I too have that song running through my head...though it's 43 degrees outside, so I don't think I'll be going outside to catch some of those rays...

(I also watched reruns...but I loved it!)
I love the whole Duffy/VM thingy going on here...pure evil on both your parts!

You've got to adjust to the Midwestern way of thinking MmeLeota ~ 43 in late December is practically shorts weather!!

Well, NaCler and I are related so the evil must run in the family

Thanks for the compliment on the photos

I suppose one of these nights I should work on some more trip report. Just can't get back into the swing of things after Christmas for some reason
