Len90 wrote:NaCler, those photos bring a tear to my eye. Your view is similar to the view we had when we were there. It's great to see photos of the Yacht Club. Did you happen to see Friendship II while you were there. I am wondering if Disney ever got around to fixing the thick black smoke coming from the engines and the dirty back end.

Awesome job everybody. I am looking forward to reading more!
I did not notice the Friendship II while we were there, sorry. I do know that we only managed to get on VIII, IV and I during the trip.
Jacca5660 wrote:Great report!! Gotta love that view and you got to see the winter meetings!! I'm hoping the Braves can so something there!! I can't believe those wait times!! How cold did you get?

It got to upper 40's/low 50's during the last day we were there (Sunday), and it was very cold Monday morning when we left. I can imagine that everyone still there is a little chilly as they didn't expect this. I just got a message from M-Dude that they canceled the fishing trip that was scheduled at 6:30am this morning. I don't blame them for that! :D

Day 3, December 4 (Saturday): Also known as the, "Day the Marauders shut down the Magic Kingdom???"

Proposed Itinerary:

9:15am: Breakfast at Kona Cafe
10:30am-11am: Enter MK
Noon: Thunder Mountain FastPass Meetup with the Mayhem Marauders
4:30pm: Space Mountain FastPass Meetup with the Mayhem Marauders
7pm: Leave for the Poly
8:20pm: Dinner at 'Ohana with the Mayhem Marauders
10pm: Dole Whip Meet on the beach of the Poly.
10:30pm-11pm : Travel back to MK
11pm: MSEP with the Marauders
11:30pm-Midnight: Whatever mayhem we can find in the Park

**NOTE: The Mousekecouple created an elaborate treasure map (placed inside the awesome chests that are shown on the Crafting thread) listing several meet-ups during the day. What is listed above are the ones that Mom and I tried to make it to. There are others that we did not get to but you will read about on other reports, I'm sure.

What REALLY happened:

My mother and I have never tried Tonga Toast. This was the trip that would have rectified that situation, however, staying out late and having a few drinks the night before with a long day ahead made us put this off until next trip. We opted for breakfast at the Captain's Grille in the hotel instead. Especially when we were able to get a reservation for 8:15am. We then knew that there was a chance we could get to the MK about rope drop time. While I am a little sad that we didn't try the TT like every good DisneyNut should, I was very happy by the breakfast buffet at the CG. It was very close to what is offered at the Crystal Palace for breakfast sans characters.

After picking up everyone going to the MK staying at the EPCOT resorts (Len - WHY do they have ONE bus picking up 5 resorts??? INSANE!), we got to the MK about 9:05am. No rope drop but at least the park was still relatively empty:
Image
Notice no hanging decorations over Main Street... :( Darn that parade...
Image

We made sure to stay away from the mass of people in the hub and headed for Adventureland. First up was Jungle Cruise and its 5 minute wait. We got the Irrawady Irma boat for anyone who is interested. Then it was onto Pirates. This was a walk on as both sides were open.

So, it's about 10ish and roughly 50 degrees outside, what would you do next??? Yep, we did Splash Mountain. Now, Mom is NOT a thrill ride person by any means and it took A LOT of persuading for her to ride SM with me, but she was a trooper. In all my years going to the MK, I have never seen Splash as a walk on... hmmm... maybe this is due to the cold temperatures and water surrounding the attraction... nah, it's just sheer luck! We get to the CM and I notice that row 1 is empty. Being the gracious son that I am, I ask the CM if we can have that front row so that my mother could have a nice unblocked view of the ride ( ). She protests a TAD but I end up pushing her in that direction. Before we climb in she notices a slight puddle of water on the seat and on the floor of the log. I quickly dismiss that as nothing but a little condensation and off we go! ( )
I think she enjoyed the ride... what do you think???
Image
Of course we got soaked... not from the initial hit on the water from the sides but from the wave the came over the front of the boat and landed squarely in our laps. I don't think my mother is speaking to me to this day.

To get dry we figured that we should stay indoors. Off to the Country Bear Jamboree! The only reason I wasn't excited about going during Christmas time was that I knew they would be doing the Christmas show at the CBJ... I was surprised when there were no lights on Melvin's antlers. Even more surprised when they came out singing those great songs that we all know and love...

After the bears we hit the Frontierland Trading Post to see if we could find any vinylmations that my kids would like. They had a clear plastic case with 3 figures and a mystery box! But alas... nothing good for the kids, our random numbers had failed us. We then went off to the Haunted Mansion and it's 10 minute wait. While there I got a picture of the wonderfully themed queue and the gravestones:
Image
No, do not adjust your computer screen... that is what you see now as you enter the Mansion. :(
Here is a look that we got later on in the day from the other side:
Image
We are now just a mere 45 minutes away from meeting up with the Marauding Crew! There was a meet at 11am at Casey's Corner, but my mother is not big on hot dogs, a trait that did not pass down to me, thank goodness. So we decide to carry on a tradition and eat at the Columbia Harbor House. She always gets the chicken strips/nuggets and I usually get what sounds good that day. I opted for the fish and chips this time. We ate upstairs and took our time as the meet up was about to begin...

To be continued...

 That boy just cannot control his bodily fluids around water, huh?

EDIT: Ok, so I had to make that comment prior to reading NaCler's entry for the day...now back to our regularly scheduled comments...

I absolutely LOVE the pic of you and mom on SM!!! What a caring son you are to make sure she has a perfect view for the duration of the ride....   I wouldn't be able to get my mom within 10 feet of SM!

As with everyone else, I am at the edge of my seat awaiting the rest of this amazing report!!!

(on side note, since you got that pic of the "electric s** in the window" lamp, I thought I'd share with you the fact that I now have "Fra-gi-lay" in my lists of ringtones among others... )

Wow those SM pictures of the marauders are just priceless. Does anybody know if B-dude did it. I kind of get the feeling he would be the one smiling and waving at the camera.

The double-boilers arrived late that day, so I know they did not ride Splash Mountain that day. Perhaps they did so on another day, and also got a photo as well.

Speaking of photos, here's a few from my camera from the December 4th Subsonic Meet-up:
Image
This was the view from my hotel room at the Swan Resort. Not bad, eh?

Image
This is the floorshow from the O'hana Restaurant. "Everbody is a cousin." 8-)

Image
For Len90: we had a few sticky wings left over. Dig in, Len! We saved them for you!

Image
This is the group shot after watching the fireworks at the Polynesian. You can see me clearly next to Boilerdude.

Image
Here I am again on the peoplemover. If you look behind me, you can see Mouseoholic riding behind me. Everyone wave hi! :D

Image
Here we have Mouseoholic and boilerbabe trying to pull the stone out of the stone in front of the carousel in Fantasyland.

Well, that's all the photos I have. I have to admit, I was more engaged in conversation so I really did get much photographing done as I normally would have.

NaCler: I have complained about the same thing. It is really terrible the way the EPCOT resorts are grouped with the buses. During the summer, the Yacht/Beach usually have their own bus to MK and the Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin share another. I know for DTD all 5 share the same bus and it is always a crowded bus which seems to lack in bus frequency. I have sat and watched 3 Saratoga Springs buses come and go from DTD before a single bus for the 5 resorts pulled in. I would advise you doing the same and complain about the transportation.

Barry, those are some great photos (and even better photoshop work). I truly wish I was physically there... maybe a summer time meeting can be scheduled :D

Those reports are GREAT!!! I LOVE that you guys took your MOMS!!! My best memories of WDW are with my mom (she passed a few years ago) and it brings a tear to my eye seeing y'all enjoy the parks with yours!!

I'm glad to hear that DUDE didn't mousekedoodle in any body of water!!

B-BABE is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside!! I am so proud to call you friend BABE!!

I should have told my nephew that you were coming. He is a CM on SPLASH. He could have gave the Mayhem Marauders a proper send off!!

The food looked great, and I got full just looking at the pictures.

Mindflipper!! Baloo has a friend at WDW and we only pay $59 a night at the Swan. I wish she could have helped, but she can only get it when we are there.

By the way it's quicker to get around from the Boardwalk area if you use the boats or walk. The MK and the Ak are the only ones you have to take the buss to. Did anybody stop at Big River and get a BREW???? Chattanooga is Big Rivers home town and they give me a free beer whenever I go there with my Boardwalk Big River shirt on!!

Keep those reports coming!! In the words of Ravencroft.........THEY"RE GREAT!!!

I knew I should have sent you all a photo for the group pic!

NaCler, I am loving your taste in restaurants! I've never been to Capt's Grille, although I hear it's great. What did you think? (p.s. I've never tried TT either  )

MF, you are too funny! And you look just like I always imagined.

Can't wait to read more, peeps!
