Well since i'm now living at Chatham Square and have no car, and don't want to ask my roommate for rides I get to WDW(work, and for play) by those huge American tour bus thingies. Yesterday I swear our bus was going to break down; it kept on making weird heaving noises.

It is quite a scene with cast members in their costumes looking so sleepy and bored on the bus, then at work it's a 180 difference.

This should probably be on a different thread, but I thought the cast members got into costume once they entered the park. Am I wrong, or is that just at the MK?

And, secondly, how's it going being a cast member - I assume you're on the college program?

Well the cast members who do operations, merchandise, custodial, etc... can dress before they get into work. But the cast members who dress as characters have to be dressed at work. It would be real disenchanting(and quite silly) to see Belle on the American Tour bus.

I've been keeping a thread open about my experience so far in the WDW forum. But to answer your question, yes I'm currently doing the college program.

It just depends on the time of year, and if you have time to spend....Have made the drive down I-75, since I was young, and there is something very nostalgic about that, and the kids seem to enjoy it....So long as they have their technology....... :D

We prefer to fly for long weekend types of trips, but drive if stayying a week or more, you get to take more stuff that you need that way.

We used to drive every time. 84 to 81 to 83 to 695 to 95 to 4. Some people up here would take 95 all the way down. But we choose to take the godawful long trip through Pennsylvania.

Now we tend to fly more, with our last car trip being May 2003.

We fly whatever discount carrier is flying out of our local airport at the moment. First it was Southeast and they went bust a little while before our trip with no notice at all. Then it was Independence Air which ceased operations from our airport and has since went bankrupt. Now it's Allegiant Air. Let's see how long this lasts.

Living in New Hampshire, we fly, but my Dad and his wife drive (in their RV).

Back when we were kids (and it was still legal to do so... heheh in the 70's/early 80's) my Dad used to put a cap on the back of the truck, and mattresses in the back, and us 4 kids would ride in the back of the truck while we pulled our camper! Thinking about it now, it was SOOO not safe, but it WAS fun! We would play games, read, and sleep during the 3 days we took to drive down. When we got there, we would stay in Ft Wilderness (Which is STILL TO THIS DAY) one of my favorite disney resorts (though I would like to make my way around the MK lake hotels one by one... I still have to do the Polynesian and the Floridian)

So, when you drive, do you take over a week of vacation? How much time on the road and how much time at WDW? I'm not prying, we also live 1,000 miles away (one way) and I'm just wondering how others who drive make it work. :D

I go down Every OCT with the family. This year it will be 12 of us. Below is this years plan as of today. It normally changes as we get closer.

We leave 5am on the 25th just north of Philadelphia & stop at last exit in Georgia around 7pm.
Next morning we figure out how much driving we have left and we leave so we can get to Orlando around 1pm on the 26th. Our trip is always at least 2 weeks. We have done this in Aug 2000, Oct 2001, Jan 2003, Oct 2004, Oct 2005 & now Oct 2006.

10/26 - MGM / MNSSHP
10/27 - USF / IOA
10/28 - Magic Kingdom / Backstage Tour
10/29 - EPCOT / HHN
10/30 - Sea World / DQ
10/31 - AK / MGM / HHN
11/01 - USF / IOA
11/02 - Magic Kingdom
11/03 - Busch Gardens
11/04 - EPCOT
11/05 - IOA / USF
11/06 - Magic Kingdom

Every year in the past we stayed on-site at Universal. But this year we wanted to stay a little cheaper so we are staying at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter.

Seems like a very organized plan. You'll enjoy staying on-site at WDW . . . there are perks for staying on site there. A little different from Universals front of the line access, but cool none-the-less.
