NaCler wrote:Not sure Amy. Looks like the MK is the only park open until 12am so we may stay clear of it due to the crowds... Not sure. I heard that there was a 70 minute wait for Small World today! Crazy!
Epcot open to 1 AM, DHS open until 12, MK open until 2AM.

Our experience may be exceptional, it was the Millennium Celebrations.

My advice. Get to the park you want to go to EARLY and be prepared to spend the whole day there. When the park is full they close the gates, if you leave you are out. No readmission. Once all the parks are full, you are not getting in. (Staying on property? You are still not getting in. Fire regulations.)

Sleepy mentioned they were turning people away at 0730. That was in their cars on World Drive before the parking toll booths.
Cast members were checking tickets in the traffic lines. No valid park ticket....bye bye, maybe next year :( The ticket booths were all CLOSED at the TTC and at MK.

Definitely a day for ADR and lots of patience. The line for Splash, Big Thunder, Pirates, and SSE was over 2 hours each

Best of luck and have a great day.....we did

Wow! I had no idea it was that busy  It sounds like a terrible day to go, unless you want to just sit and people watch. And see the awesome fireworks display!

Sorry Joe and Sleepy... I had checked the calendar for the 1st, not the 31st! Haha... We know it will be useless trying ride anything other than the peoplemover but we figured a packed day at WDW beats a boring new years eve at home anyday! I think the reason EPCOT is more known for their New Years is due to the sale of alcohol. ;)

Oh, it looks like DHS is open until 3am... Maybe I would get the chance to ride TSMM by 2:45am!

As long as you are in line for TSMM by 8:45 pm ~ shouldn't be a problem ;)

Good luck NaCler!!! We went to DL for NYE one year and it was such a madhouse!!! In fact, we just came across the hats we got from the park that year for the party...they're packed away somewhere now...
But I agree with you....a totally crowded NYE at WDW beats sitting at home doing nothing. :D It helps when you've been so many times that you don't care about riding anything...just people watching and holding a spot for the festivities.

Beyond crowded...PACKED!!!! Think: take turns breathing.... ;) It's crazy packed and could essentially make for a horrible time...unless you aren't planning on doing anything and just camp out for the evening.
I remember though, be sure to use the facilities before the main midnight stuff. We were in front of the castle for 4 hours before midnight and it was so crowded that no one could get out to go to the bathroom or get refreshments without getting crushed.
In WDW, I probably would grab a bench in WS and sit there all day and forget about the castle....or perhaps go to the Poly beach and grab a hammock...who knows?

NaCler and his momma have arrived safely at WDW
More details after I get home and my friends stop giving me the evil eye as I am texting during our card game

Thank you Amy! Everything is awesome here on New Years Eve in WDW! Had a great time at the MK today, complete with NYE firework show. I recorded them for everyone to enjoy. More later...

Ok, so obviously I am not the greatest at real-time reporting
NaCler beat me to it. They are having a great time at WDW! He said he even talked his Mom into staying out until the MK closed at 3 am. Not sure if they made it or not ~ and whether he broke any rides down or not ;)
He told me that the park was full of club music and people were having a ball. I did ask if he was engaging in any fist pumping ala Len and Mark, but evidently the Jersey Shore people stayed home for New Year's Eve ~ just kidding! He did mention YMCA and Sweet Caroline which distracted me greatly from my card game. My friends' had the moldy-oldy country music going so I was trying to sing over that but I don't know much of Sweet Caroline except..."Sweet Caroline ~ baa, baa, baa" My Dad listened to the good stuff ~ big band music ~ when I was little so I wasn't subjected to that awful crooning. They know it throws me off my game
NaCler also mentioned that it was a balmy 70 degrees and surprisingly (to me anyhow) not too crowded ~ with near normal wait times. That was a shocker  I would have been more jealous except it was still raining and about 40 here :D
