Welcome, subsonic members, to Muppet Labs. I am Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. We here at Muppet Labs are excited to announce a brand new breakthrough in posting trip reports here on Subsonic. Now trip reports can be automatically posted with our new Concurrent Analytical Trip Automation System To Record On-line Postings, Hot-wired Electronically. This new system, which we call it by the acronym CATASTROPHE, is the first of its kind anywhere in the world! Scanners secreted all around Disney World track and follow a subsonic member during his day. At the end of each day, the CATASTROPHE system will compile all the data it has collected into a narrative, and then post them here on Subsonic. To test this brand new system, a subsonic member by the user name of Len90 has been secretly selected to be our lucky volunteer for the inaugural field test of the CATASTROPHE system. My assistant Beaker has intercepted Len90 in stealth at the airport to secretly install the CATASTROPHE application on his iphone 4. This iphone app will allow the CATASTROPHE system to track and record his trip and transmit it automatically to the Subsonic board at the end of every day. Once Len returns, we will be able to compare the results of the CATASTROPHE system to his recollections to judge the accuracy of the results it has posted. We here at Muppet Labs are excited by our latest innovation!
Thanks, Dr. Honeydew, for explaining it all to our Subsonic users. Before we begin, this revolutionary technology has yet to be fully tested outside the lab. When Len90 announced that upon he returning from his WDW trip he would take a week off before posting, many here on Subsonic expressed their dismay for such a long delay in getting his trip report. Seriously? Did Len90 think we could wait that long for his trip report? That’s when we decided to move up the testing of this technology even though it still has many more months of rigorous lab testing before it would normally be tested in the field. Normally, the automated trip reporting would be posted through the Subsonic user’s account. However, as this field test is a “blind study” in which the test subject (in our case, Len90) is completely unaware of being the subject of such a test, the trip reports are being forwarded to my subsonic user account for the duration of this test. And so it begins…
DAY 1: JUNE 26, 2010
The plane landed in Orlando. The excitement was more than Len could contain, as he had looked forward to this trip for months. Along with his parents and his brother Mark they departed the plane and retrieved their luggage from the baggage carousel in the airport. They boarded the Disney Magical Express bus that would take them from the airport to Walt Disney World. For Len, the trip started here as he listened to the bus’s audio loop of Disney music he has heard many times on Subsonic. The trip from New Jersey to Orlando had been relatively smooth except for one small but brief odd incident at the airport back in New Jersey. A strange man had tried to steal his iphone but was unsuccessful. Len only got a brief glimpse at the fleeing thief, and thought there was something familiar about his appearance: the red hair that stood up straight on end like those cheap prize dolls from the fair, the red round nose, the panicked facial expression, and the over-sized white lab coat. Len felt he could have probably recognized his thief if he got more than a glimpse sighting, but the Homeland Security assault force that descended upon his thief dragged him away quite quickly. It was exceptionally annoying in fact that he just got his brand new iphone 4.0 that he just got from Best-Buy on Thursday before the trip. No matter, thought Len. He just arrived at Walt Disney World finally. His excitement grew to a fever pitch as his beloved Yacht Club was finally in sight, but Len was prepared if the intensity proved to be overpowering; he had a brown paper bag neatly folded in his pocket in case he hyper-ventilated. Len had planned for any and all contingencies for this trip.
The Yacht Club was just has he remembered; for being one of his favorite resorts, Len had all the particulars from the lobby, the restaurants to the rooms virtually memorized in his head. As usual, the reality of being in the hotel did not diminish in no way the loving template he had in his mind. Upon checking in, they into pool wear and headed promptly down to the pool. They enjoyed their time by the pool relaxing after the plane trip, but Len, when no one in his family was paying attention, would steal glances around scanning the landscape. It was if he was searching for something…or perhaps someone…
But dinner time was approaching, so the family headed back up to the rooms to dress for dinner. They headed off to the Polynesian Resort, and had an excellent meal at O'hana. During his entire time at the Polynesian Resort once again Len when unnoticed would secretly scan the passing people. It appeared whatever Len sought had yet to appear, which was evident from the expression on his face. Ironically enough, as Len was watching the crowds of people in search of something or someone, Len himself was in fact being secretly observed. Unbeknownst to Len he was being watched by two well-dressed weasels: the smaller one in a brown pin-striped suit and matching fedora, and the larger one dressed in a black suit with a matching black fedora hat. The hats were pulled down, so most of the hotel guests pass by the two weasels in complete ignorance of their presence.
As In any course, Len’s and his family’s first evening had been relaxing and quiet, allowing everyone to restore their energies for visiting the theme-parks tomorrow. However, Len was restless, because his excitement about it being his first day back in Walt Disney World. It was 11 PM, so Len decided to take his camera and partake in some night-time photography that he could use in some Subsonic topics such as “Disney In The Dark - Photo Tribute to Disney Magic at Night” or “Where In The World”. He had walked around the lagoon that separated the Yacht Club from the Boardwalk resort. As he explored the shops and restaurants along the boardwalk, taking photos along the way, he became aware of two well-dressed weasels trailing behind him. Each time he stopped briefly, he took a quick glance in their direction, and the two well-dressed weasels would awkwardly act like they had other interests. Len was not convinced, and decided to take immediate action.
Len ducked into the Boardwalk resort and quickly found the men’s restroom to hide away. He quickly went into a stall and pulled up his feet and sat quietly. He had hoped he lost the two well-dressed weasels, but in only a few minutes he heard them entered the restroom.
“Is he in here?” said the first weasel.
“Naw, no one’s here, boss,” the second weasel replied, getting down on the ground looking through the bottom of the stalls, finding no feet on the floors.
The two weasels left, and after while when Len felt it was safe he left the stall. However, before he could leave the restroom the two weasels burst back into the restroom. The larger weasel confronted Len, “Did you think we would fall for that old trick, kid?”
“Are we going to rough him up, boss?” asked the other weasel.
“Yeh, why not,” replied the larger weasel, cracking his knuckles.
But the scare tactics did not work on Len, who quickly and unexpectedly kicked the larger weasel between the legs. The larger weasel’s eyes started spin wildly, and small bluebirds tweeting appeared from nowhere encircling his head. Len knew he had knocked the larger weasel unconscious. It was a wise course of action, because Len was now left with the lesser of two weasels.
Unfortunately for Len, the lesser of two weasels had a cartoon gun pointed at him.
