That looks like the little shop outside the Haunted Mansion.
That would have been great for "where in the world"!

Not that I am doubting you, but the rest of that roll of film is from Epcot. It starts in the hotel room and ends in Epcot. I don't think that we did Park Hoppers on that trip. That one picture is the only one that I can't place as being anywhere in Epcot. I am very confused. I wish I kept detailed spreadsheets back then! :?

I was giving the shop name to the location Amy had mentioned. Looking at the picture, and given its EPCOT, I wonder if it could either be Norway or Canada.

Let's wind this dial and let time escape...

Let's wind this dial and let time escape...and behold! We're back in time back to 1991 and 1992 watching the construction of Splash Mountain:

Winding the dial again, and time escapes more...

...this time, we're traveling back to WDW Magic Kingdom's Discoveryland.

Now, I know what you're going to say, "Mindflipper, Magic Kingdom has Tomorrowland, and Disneyland Paris has Discoveryland."

But after EuroDisney opened in 1992, there was a plan in 1993 to re-theme Tomorrowland into a Discoveryland. Here's the model for it:
Image

Yes, it was grand, but we all know now that TDO cheaped out and changed their minds. They kept as Tomorrowland, but still kept some of the rides.
For instance, here's the concept art for Alien Encounter:

And here's the concept art for "From Time to Time" with Timekeeper:

Those rides/attractions were actually done and now are gone. However, in the original plan announced, there was a plan to replace Carousel of Progress with an attraction called Flying Saucers. Here's some of its concept art:
Image

Of course, that didn't happen. Neither did replacing the never opened Noodle Station at the Tomorrowland Terrace becoming an upgraded sit-down service restaurant called "The Astronomer's Club".

So those who have seen the concept art for the Fantasyland Expansion that is currently going on at the Magic Kingdom, remember: it's a long road from concept art to delivered finished product.

I hadn't ever heard of the Discoveryland transformation - that was interesting to read. I'm glad they didn't replace the carousel of progress though, I enjoy that show :D

Yep, I've been searching through my photos seeking the original MGM Expansion plan, but I hadn't found. There were three rides part of that expansion, but only one got built: the Tower of Terror. The other two that didn't get built: Roger Rabbit Car-Toon Spin, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Aww, both of those attractions would have been great!

It makes me wonder if MadEye's mantra of "TDO are cheap b*st*rds!" may have been true back then too...

I would have swore that was the Yankee Trader as well. I'll have to dig through some of my pictures to see if I took one of that store.
It's hard to argue with a whole "roll" of Epcot pictures, but it sure looks like YT.

Wow! this is a great topic!!! It makes me want to go searching for our old pics!!! I'm not sure where any of them are at the moment. I know most of our pics are from DL, but we have pics of DCA being built. I just am not sure where they are. I'll have to search.

Thank you to those who posted old pics! I love seeing how the parks have changed over the years.

This is fun isn't it?!

Continuing my story...
Our next trip was in 2003. We now had a two year old son and we were ready to experience The World through the eyes of our child....
