That's great trekty! Do you have a trip planned soon?trekty wrote:I started walking (trying to everyday after work) just to get used to the increase in walking. I have lost a few pounds doing so, and try to eat healthy. I found some Dr. Scholl's inserts (for arthritis in knees/back) that help a lot with the knee pain I always feel when walking, they will be taking the trip with me.
Does your trip planning include getting fit for the MOUSE?

Looks like you'll be arriving the day we're leaving. Too bad you couldn't get there a week sooner and go to the Dole Whip meet-up.trekty wrote: 88 Days!! (But whose counting)

You need a vacation ticker ~ not that you're counting or anything ~ but that would make it easiertrekty wrote:88 Days!! (But whose countingAmy wrote:That's great trekty! Well I took subby on my walk this morning. My mp3 player's battery was almost dead, so I looked at my phone, made a face because I don't have any good songs on it, and then remembered...subsonic!! I chose the 24k stream which worked well, even out here in the boonies. The only bad thing is that it slurped down 10% of the battery in 30 minutes
Oh well, it was still nice to have my favorite music along for the walk. Thank you to whomever requested the Horizons ride-thru this morning ~ that was fun

I commend all of you! I work in the fitness field and I understand that it's not always easy, it's a choice we make. I choose to try and keep healthy. It's not easy for me, I work very hard, obesity runs on my dad's side of the family, I'm not one of those people with the fast metabolisms! I understand there are also medical conditions that make it very hard to lose weight or maintain healthy weights. You don't have to be a runner to be healthy either. Whatever way you exercise is awesome, it's about moving! Also, choosing to eat healthy is to be commended. It's too easy in today's crazy busy world to say I don't feel like cooking something, lets eat out. With work schedules and life that gets in the way, it's just not easy! I'm no where perfect when it comes to diet, I just try to make the effort.
We all have a story, I have been a long time distance runner, it's something I am passionate about. I just recently made my way back from an injury, I was told I would be "lucky" if I ever ran a 5K again. There were several times where I thought about hanging up my shoes. But, I persevered, this past weekend I ran 8 miles around Mackinac Island, PAIN FREE. It was my own personal victory! I will never come in first place, but I don't finish last either, I am competeing against myself. We all have our own goals, obstacles and victories!!!
If you have physical limitations, you have to find a mode of exercise that will benefit you, not tear your body down.
Keep up the great work everyone!!!!!!!! I love this support thread!

I like to bring a pedometer with me when we go to Disney. It's amazing how many miles you really walk. It's a mile or so around the world showcase, so if you make that a few trips, plus down to Innoventions and back, you can rack up ten miles easy in a day. I think the least amount I walked was 8.5 and that was at Animal Kingdom. So, yes, I definitely work on walking before the trip.

Wow! That's some nice bling Boilerbabe!
Thank you Mouseoholic for starting this thread! Chernabog40 has to lose some weight for health reasons and I've been wanting to get serious about it too. It's really difficult when only one of you is committing to it. We've been doing this for 5 weeks and I have lost about 7 lbs. and Chernabog40 has lost about 15 lbs. (darn you men!!!!
)
Reading everyone's stories is very inspiring as well! We're still trying to find that great workout for each of us, but in the meantime, we've been walking more.
It's great to have a support system!
