Cool. Can't wait to see them... also, it will distract you from that terrible atrocity of LeBron Whatshisname heading out your way!cousininmiami wrote:Hey all, back home! Arghhhh!!! The dreaded laundry! When you get back from a trip it haunts you like the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion!cousininmiami wrote:Hey all, back home! Hmmmmmmm, I wonder if boilerbabe knows about the Dole Whip Machine you had in your photos? If so, she would probably see about getting one for her home...

Re: Reporting from Disney World July 2010
Ok finally caught up with wash, work and sleep now that I am home. So going back to day #2!
The day started with a baseball game at the ESPN Wide World of Sports for my son. Unfortunately they lost 5 to 3 but it was an awesome game, in an incredible setting!
AFter the morning game we got up and went to Magic Kingdom! Being that this is Walt's dream, I can never wait to get there! First we went to the Grand Floridian to park, (like we always do, either Grand Floridian or Poly), then took the resort Monorail to MK. Magic Kingdom was not crowded at all that day! We have been to WDW on the Daytona 500 weekend before, and seriously it takes a lot of people away from WDW that go to Nascar instead. We basically had 5 to 20 minutes waits on everything!
First we went to the Hall of Presidents. We had been there since the changes, but it seemed all the more special to go there on 4th of July weekend.

Next it was off to Haunted Mansion, and again a less than 10 minute wait! Took a picture of Master Gracie's freshly dug grave and Mdm Leota for my subsonic friends!

After HM is was time for a snack! And of course you can guess it was a DOLE WHIP!

Yummmmmmmmmmmmy! (I wish I had another one right now!)
The next stop was Pirates... walked on, no line! Hummmm, where is everybody? By this time, we have gone on a bunch of rides so it's time to go on Splash Mountain! Who cares if we get wet, we have Mickey Ponchos!!!I I posted a video on my YouTube channel if you want to see our Splash Mountain ride thru... even took video of the big drop! Here is the Splash ride along link:

Next, after drying off, we decided to take the train to Toontown to get over towards Tomorrowland area. My thought was to save some steps, have some fun and maybe catch a glimpse of some construction in the new Pixie Hollow. Well, the train was a blast, always fun to see the back side of Thunder Mountain, and the Indian village. But no such luck on any sneak peeks... all the construction was very well hidden.

Walked thru Toontown, and peeked into Mickey's house and Minnie's house!

Mickey's House...

Minnie's House...
Make sure you take the secret walkway from Toontown to Tomorrowland. It's just to the left off the train and follows a path kind of along the train tracks and ends up at Space Mountain. Nobody is ever on that path, weird to be all alone in MK, and a way to get from one place to another very quickly! We then went on Space Mountain, it was fun. I'm not really the roller coaster type, but I love all the special touches, so I reluctantly go and know it will be over with in a couple minutes.

Then we went on the Carousel of Progress, Buzz Lightyear, Stitch, and the TTA (Peoplemover). By this time we were just plain tired and hungry. We wanted to stay for the fireworks because it was the same display on July 3rd and 4th, but we decided to go and see it from the Grand Floridian. So we hopped the resort Monorail back to the Grand Floridian and went to the cafe for dinner. We finished at exactly 8:55pm with just enough time to sit in a chair with a glass of wine and watch the amazing fireworks display in complete comfort with other resort guests. I have to say, these were the most incredible fireworks I have ever seen. It was a super duper fireworks show that was over the castle and over Bay Lake at the same time. Wow! Unbelievable!
So, it was time to get going finally. It was 10:30pm and our pedometer said 8.4 miles of walking that day! For sure I was feeling all 8.4 miles at that point! We dropped our Son off at the All-Star Sports to go to bed and we went back to the Buena Vista Palace to get a little sleep before the next day! Our Son had an early game July 4th, 8am start... be there at 7am for warm-ups!
I will write more tomorrow, hope I a not being too long winded. Your Cousin In Miami

Yay for all the great photos! My last WDW trip was 10 years ago and I've been to Disneyland several times since so things look sooooo different in the pictures! Your video of Splash is super clear...what kind of video camera do you have?

Very impressive...I wondered if it was HD. What did your son want when he was waving his hand in front of the camera? "Mom. Mooommmm!"cousininmiami wrote:It's just my Nikon camera, 12.1 megapixel that also takes HD videos! Glad you like it!

You know this is the first time I noticed it... so I took a picture. Has anyone else ever noticed Master Gracie's grave freshly dug?

Great trip report and GREAT photos! I hadn't been since the changes to Space Mountain and Tomorrowland, so it was nice to see those photos.
I do wonder why Master Gracey's grave was "freshly burried" with a flower on top of the grave. I don't remember it being that way on my previous trip, and Yale Gracey pasted away back in 1983, so it could not be because he just passed away. Any one know why the grave is that way?

great photos, excellent colors. The grave does always look freshly dug, its even a different texture of soil.

I wondered about the grave myself. Thought it was just something I didn't pay attention to before. I wonder if it is supposed to be that way since he "recently" died?
