I voted "forever". I could get rid of my dog.

Realistically, I'm sure I'd want to leave eventually. But who wants to be realistic where WDW is concerned?

we usually take two 4-day/4-night trips per year, and one 10 day trip per year.

i'd love to stay forever lol....sure, i'd want to travel other places, too...but living at wdw would be pretty awesome...

i totally wouldn't do that if it meant getting rid of my pets, though! i love them way too much. besides, i'm assuming that if wdw liked me that much to let me stay forever, they'd probably be lenient enough to let me keep my pets haha;)

i've heard about people with lots of vacation days from work or who are retired spending a month or more at fort wilderness in their RVs. that's something i'd really like to do someday. oh, and as a plus, you could bring your dog! ;)

I haven't brought this idea up with my wife yet (becuase it's still decades off) but don't think it hasn't been in the back of my mind since I saw the Disney Holiday Special on Travel Channel.

There's an elderly couple down the street a ways. I don't know them. Don't know their names. But they have an RV parked in front of their house with Disney stuff all over it. Every time I go past it, I wonder if they are one of those couples that camps out there for months at a time.

Seriously, how awesome would that be?

I've stayed at WDW for 12 days....my husband thought it was a bit too long, but I feel like I still didn't get to do everything I wanted to!

We really wish there was a pet-friendly hotel/resort on grounds (outside of Fort Wilderness), but we can understand the maintenance/liability concerns. Alternatively, we'd like to see a pet boarding place that you didn't have to visit (i.e. take your dog out for walk, etc.) during the course of your stay. The one on grounds currently requires you to do just that, and it really throws a wrench into our plans.

i chose 2 weeks because i would probably sleep every other day. i think i would take things at old fogey speed and 2 weeks would be ideal. I'd actually want to wait in line on the rides.

I think idealy, 2 weeks, including visiting Universal would be great. My last trip we hit up WDW for 5 days and Universal for 2 days (2 days was just right). While we saw all the major stuff we wanted to see in those 5 days we were rushing around A LOT.

The things we missed were visiting other smaller things. Like going to all the hotels just to absorb the wonderful theming. Probably, the most important thing, taking our time and not having to rush around so much. I really enjoyed the 5 day trip though and thought it went well. It was very sad to leave. WDW really makes you feel immersed. I don't think DLR does that as well but it might be that I have an Annual pass there and will just drop in to get dinner and leave. Or perhaps that I used to work there. Anyways. 2 weeks with a visit to Universal (Gotta have my most favorite attraction EVER. Spider-Man)

I would love this too, but the chances of that happening are slim to none. If they had one pet friendly HOTEL I think they would make a ton of cash. They could have a pet spa, dog walkers, cat trees in every cat room, etc. Just look at how much money people spend on their pets, I think it is in the Billions per year, so they could REALLY cash in on that.

Ideally I would love 10 days, but I have to weigh out time and resort preferences so the money goes as far as possible. :mickey3:

Although we usually spend about 9 days in a trip, it seems to be about half the time we need to truly cover all the ground we want to at the pace we'd choose to keep.

An earlier observation about money being no object was also the case here. There's no way I could afford to eat at the "world" for 3 straight weeks!

We usually stay 7-8 days and I always think it was a day or two too short. So, I voted for 2 weeks. By then, I'll be ready to head home.

Visiting Disney

Certainly, I would want to visit permanently as in forever. Why not? We all go there for the same reason. We want to be happy and suspend the realities of life for awhile.

Our stays average 9-10 days once a year. We stayed 2 weeks one year and split it between 3 resorts. Too much moving and work problems that I had to take care of the last few days of vacation made me think 2 weeks was too long.

The next time we attempt a 2 week stay it'll be 2 resorts (DVC) and no work!

The summer of 2004, we stayed on property for two weeks and resort hopped. The next year we added a week and decided we really didn't like moving around so much. So in 2006, we stretched our stay to four weeks at the Wilderness Lodge and loved staying in one room the whole time. Last summer it was five weeks at the Boardwalk. This summer we'll be at the Beach Club for four weeks. We are talking about six weeks next summer back at the Wilderness Lodge. Without DVC, we'd never be able to stay so long!
