I think aslong as we post the dates of the meets a year in advance more folks will be able to show up. The first year will be slow but as the years go on it will get larger as people will specifically schedule their vacations for that time. A perfect example of this is our GLFF for Home haunters http://www.greatlakesfrightfest.com The first year was about 25-50 folks, second year doubled, third 110-130, fourth around 150, and so on. I don't know how many this year, yet I have to ask the hostess.

ok, I'm changing the name of this thread from "un-official" to "official" for the meet up. I'm also going to start a poll asking what is the best month for everyone. I'd like to start some kind of official east coast meet up for the listeners of Subsonic. Held at WDW at some point in the future. We can start making plans now for a meet up next year, that way we can make sure everyone can make it and can schedule a day to meet, hang out, get lunch, etc. let me know how many people would be interested in something like this...

I picked January only because that seems, to me at least, to be less crowded than other months do to alot of folks taking extra days around the holidays. You can also use it as a break after the holidays with all of the shopping, parties, kids going insane the whole month with adding thing to their lists, and still having to work for a good portion of it to boot.

But I am still open for any other month just as strongly. I guess then............Hey JS3901 can you put a any month because I have an AP on the poll and switch my vote to that?

I voted for August. This may seem like a selfish reason but I picked it because My wife and I have found that since we don't have kids yet, it tends to be a great month for travelling, since most of the folks with kids are headed back home so they can get ready for school to start. I understand it may not be a popular choice for those of us that do have children and want to go. As far as what definatly wouldn't work, at least for us, is basically February through July (Big Property Tax season). The rest of the year, I could probably be talked into.

sticky?

Considering this is over four months away, you should sticky this thread.

no, the first one is about 4 months away, but this is now planning for next year. I'll still put it as a sticky, but looking to give enough notice for people. that's always something that stops the west coast meet-ups, not enough time given. hoping to cure that here...

I agree the sooner they get planned the better the chance that more of us can plan our vacations around them.

Mousefest is going to be the best time as there's allready hundreds of Disney fans from over the internet going for it. Why re-invent the wheel?

Unfortunately 2006 is out for me, but I might be able to make one in 2007
During the winter months would be great cause it would be nice to get out of all the snow

I am also planning a trip from April 28, 2007 to May 5, 2007. I absolutely love May and the parks are not crowed at that time of year. Plus, it's right before my AP expires. Could this time frame work?

I couldn't make it during that time, but if it's better for most people I understand. you have to do what's best for the most. As Spock says "The good of the many outweigh the good of the few, or the one."

hey, if this one works out, I'm planning another one next year. We can do the East Coast meet up annually, but if we decide to go in another month (other than december), we could do that too...
If you can get the word out sooner, I know my DW and I could be there. This year we only planned on going in October.
