Yeah I won't drink too much, just enough to keep my buzz going. I don't feel like puking the next morning

I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Well, I spoke to my brother and sister-in-law over the holidays and they are fine with my bringing my nephew to Disney in August. We told him about it and he got so excited. We told him we were still in the planning stages and it all depended on whether his Mom went to Sturgis to meet his dad. So now the little man has to decide if he wants to go to Disney without his Mom. So if everything falls into place...

It is hot, but the end of August is great for low crowd levels. I'd compare them to the beginning of December, the other time we always go.

August can be very hot and humid for sure, but if you know how to work with the weather you'll be fine. Listen to the weather forcast and plan accordingly. We always used to get up early to be at the parks for when they opened, do some of the best rides and then leave around 10:30 or 11 and either go back to the hotel pool or to a waterpark. This way you can all cool off through the heat of the day. You can also use this time to relax or have a little sleep. Then you're nice and awake to go back to the parks about 4:00-5:00 and stay til the parks shut, without being too shattered for the next morning.
The parks aren't as busy or as hot at the begining and end of each day so you spend less time queueing and less time getting all hot and bothered.
Sounds odd, but Disney Quest can also be a good thing to do if you think the kids are getting too hot and need a break from the heat as its all air conditioned!

This is VERY good information, as I will likely be taking my kids down this August. It will be my first August trip, since I was a kid, and I was hoping to hear that the crowds get better around the 20th.....I am lookng forward to the storms, which I haven't experienced in a long time, due to my most recent trips being in November & February....

If you're going around the 8th you may not run into too many crowds, a lot of locals bring their families during the summer, but school always starts back up so dang early here (around Aug 5th!). August is definitely an extremely hot month to come, expect major humidity and after it rains expect it to be even more gross outside. Definitely invest in going to the water parks (although they will be crowded, thats guaranted in August in FL), it will save you from the heat and humidity. Typhoon Lagoon rocks

Well put. I'd rather wait until September or so

I'm still worried about the trip in August but since I am not paying a dime (birthday/christmas present). I shouldn't complain. A trip to the park is a trip to the park.
