Have they told you what the weather is like down there? It looks nice and sunny, and I'm guessing warm-ish?
Oh no, boilerdude was singing? And boilerbabe thought it was funny? I thought she wasn't a big fan of him singing in public
I'm curious to see what they think of the Flying Fish. That is one of the dining options for Dine with an Imagineer...
The weather is gorgeous... (I believe I mentioned that..?.. Why yes, I did!.. ).
Yeah, the B-dude singing expo was a bit less than what she wanted to see (um... hear...), but hey... love does strange things to people.  8-)
They love the Flying Fish, actually. In fact, it was the first place we all went together for dinner on the night we first met! Mouseoholic and I had ressies for two, but after we met the Boilers, we cajoled the host at FF to let all four of us in for dinner. It rocked! Here we all are together:

Stop the presses! I just got a text from her.... they're there! They got a nice quiet, private table way in the back, and the host just brought them some champagne! :D

Now let's all turn away quietly and let them enjoy some romantic time to themselves (sound of smooching in the background....) 8-)

I was thinking more along the lines of a temperature reading my dear smart-alecky brother o' mine  :P

Maybe it's just his ad-libbing to polynesian Christmas music? Or possibly it's just that she got a Dole Whip in her and nothing can ruin that happiness... :?:

Amy, sorry... I couldn't resist...
I understand that the temps have been in the range of high 60's at night to 70's - low 80's during the day, and very low humidity. Ideal Mayhem conditions! :D

Mindflipper: she said he was making up lyrics to some of the tunes from ToT. Weird Al Yankovich lives....

We interrupt this thread to bring you some tragic news. Our beloved NaCler's father passed away this morning (see the Special Requests thread).
However, being the considerate unselfish gentleman that he is (he even apologized for interrupting my day when he texted me the news), he would not want to ruin the Boilers' trip with his personal loss. In fact, in texting him back and forth, I'm happy to report that he is keeping a positive attitude and a sense of humor. So although we all share his pain in this time of loss, I know he would not want us to stop our lives on his account. Therefore, I will continue this "trip report by proxy" in a few moments. I had some trouble with Photobucket last night, so I wasn't able to complete last night's narrative. Bear with me while I catch up. After that, I will continue with today's events as the Boilers have been sending me updates this morning. Stand by, please....

Okay, back to last night’s events: our heroes had a wonderful dinner. Here are some shots of the scrumptious chow:
First, some Rice Crusted Maine lobster:
Image

Then B-babe had the Red Potato wrapped Snapper:
Image

B-dude had what could only be described as the world’s most incredible steak. He’s had good steaks from some very high-end places, and he swears this is the best one he’s ever tasted. Even B-babe was impressed, and she’s not a steak girl! This picture doesn’t really do it justice, but:
Image

After dinner, they headed over to Epcot to relax and enjoy the Food and Wine Fest. They sent some nice shots of the gorgeous sunset and SSE:

Here’s a nice shot of the fountain at Innoventions Plaza:

And here’s a shot of the yummy chocolate crepe from Rocky that they had for dessert:

Okay, now... here’s some sad news for Disney purists: Apparently B-babe discovered something that is sucking her into the “bear who must not be named” vortex:
Image

Yes, that’s right: it’s a set of Duffy ears! And while I’m horrified that my beloved friends are being swallowed by this black hole of marketing, I have to admit that she looks awesome in them! 8-) More on this subject in the upcoming report on today’s festivities. Meanwhile, let’s finish up last night.

The pinnacle event of last night was when Disney finally delivered the special surprise that B-dude had been awaiting all day to present to his beloved sweetie:
Image

What is it? It’s a fabulous Swarovsky bracelet!!! Oh, yeah...!!! B-dude got some major “good-husband” points for that one! Check this beauty out:
Image

Obviously the cell phone pic doesn’t do this thing justice, so hopefully B-babe will wear it in January so we can all see it better! :D

Well, that about wraps it up for yesterday. Let me get busy on today’s festivities. Stay tuned!

Wow ~ nice photos and a beautiful anniversary bracelet ~ what a nice celebration they had :D
Do you know if they are taking in any of the Food and Wine tastings or presentations?

I'm glad NaCler is doing ok. It isn't an easy time but it sure helps when you are surrounded by family.

Amy, they haven't said much about the Food and Wine stuff... although I assume the Chocolate Crepe was part of that....
Time to get on with today's events:

The Boilers in WDW, Day 5

Okay, so here we go on today’s fun and frolics with the Double Boilers in the happiest place on Earth! This morning started out with a fabulous... and very filling... breakfast buffet:
Image

B-babe reports that this breakfast buffet was amazing, and even has 3 different desserts! She’s so stuffed that she’s probably not going to need to eat for the rest of the day. She said she would probably have to roll herself out of there...

First thing on the agenda was to go to Epcot and ride Test Track. Then they went over to the Living Seas to check on the status of the dive tank. A C.M. told them that maintenance was being done in the tank, and on the electrical system. They even had the skylights open today. She was totally bummed that things were not what they should be with that. :(

They went to Innoventions to get their Visa Character Photo done, and were a little disappointed that it was only Minnie and Goofy again... but were still happy that it was a good photo op (don’t have a pic of that to post here... maybe later when they do their “for-real” report...).

Next we come to what can only be described as “our-dear-friends-being-tragically-sucked-into-the-black-hole-of-marketing-evil-that-is-Duffy-Bear.”
Yes, that’s right: Disney’s marketing trolls have noticed the fabulous success of the “Build-a-Bear” franchise that you see at most major malls, and have figured out a way to effectively employ “revisionist history” tactics in order to make that concept a part of Disney’s marketing strategy. You see, the idea is to convince Disney fans that Duffy has always been part of the Mickey and Minnie story, after which we are expected to accept him... and therefore want to buy all kinds of Duffy merchandise. So to incorporate the "Build-a-Bear" technique into their marketing strategy, they now offer a “naked Duffy”.... that is to say that you can now buy the bear in a “naked” state, and then buy all sorts of outfits to dress him in. The idea is to come up with all kinds of different outfits to fit all kinds of Disney park experiences and “special memories.” It’s the same basic concept of the Vinylmations: you just have to keep buying more and more of the different incarnations of the toy. So sadly, our beloved Boilers are in the process of swallowing the Kool-aid and are probably going to buy one, although they haven't yet at the time of this writing. But I digress (and I hope for the Boilers’ forgiveness for spouting my opinions here...)...

Anyway, here’s how it went down: while I was catching up on their morning activities, B-dude sent me the following text:
“Duffy is now sold naked and you have to buy his clothes...”
Well, this came out of nowhere, so I immediately sensed trouble. Right away, I texted him back, begging him to tell me that they had not succumbed to the dark side. Sadly, he replied that they were “thinking about it...” and that “she says she needs the bear.” Well, I knew that was the beginning of the end. But I said “Oh Lord, let me talk to her...”. He said, “don’t think it will help, but you’re welcome to try.”
So I started texting her, begging her to come back from the brink. But she was saying stuff like, “But the bear is so cute, and Mickey loves him...” and “...did you know Minnie made Duffy for Mickey..?”
I knew I had lost the battle. So I gave her my blessing, and confessed that he is indeed very cute, and that I was now sure that I was going to have to buy one for Mouseoholic in January (do you really think that I wouldn’t have to, once she got wind of this..???!!  ).

I then texted B-dude to let him know that I had failed... the dark side was just too strong... and he said he appreciated it, but what are ya gonna do. I told him that the bright side was that now he would have some leverage to use with her when it came time for us Dudes to spend some quality “guy time” together over some fine Scotch in January. He agreed, and thanked me for at least trying. Like I said, at the time of this writing they haven't yet bought one, but I can foresee the inevitability of it. I'm only waiting for confirmation of the dreaded event at this point.

So that about wraps it up for that situation. Next, they headed back to the resort for some pool time. The last text I got from B-babe a few minutes ago was that they had fun at the quiet pool and made some Mickey tie-dye shirts. Waiting to see if I get pics of that... (the pics take a while to come through for some reason....).
I’m sure there will be more later. Come back and check in a while.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled mayhem on the boards....

Well, that first pic looks like it is from a cooking demonstration so it appears like they have done a little Food and Wine-ing...
I am interested in hearing more about the making Mickey tie-dye shirts! That is right up F1gment and my way of dressing :D
Duffy = cute bear. I looooooove Duffy ;)

Okay, time for the evening Boiler Bulletin! 8-)

After some quality down time at the resort, they got ready to go to the Poly for ADR’s at Kona. The plan is to stuff their faces at Kona, and then watch Hallowed Wishes on the beach with Dole Whips. After first stopping to pick up their Visa Character pics, they hop the Monorail to head over to the Poly. By the way, B-babe reports that the monorail smells like the inside of B-dude’s car (something about farm animals.... :x   ).

Naturally, when they get to the Poly, they have to stop for a picture:
Image

Then they wandered the grounds a little while and picked up this beautiful sunset shot:
Image

Then it was time to go in for their ADR. By about 7:40 they still had not been seated, and B-babe was starting to get a little miffed because their ADR was for 7:25. But thankfully, only a couple minutes after she texted me that, they were seated... and it was a great table. :D

They ordered drinks... to be specific, it was a “sand in the pants” (strawberry daquiri with pina colada... yum!):
Image

She also mentioned that the bread and spread were simply sinful. Then along came the Rock Shrimp:
Image

....followed shortly afterwards by the Pan Asian Noodles:
Image

After having thoroughly stuffed themselves, they oozed outside with just enough time left to grab a decent spot on the beach in preparation for the fireworks. B-babe says she’ll have to wait on the Dole Whip... too stuffed... which is saying a lot for someone who’s as addicted to DW’s as she is....

While waiting on the beach, they enjoyed watching Toy Story Mania (the Poly shows movies on a large projection screen on the beach sometimes), and then got to watch the Water Pageant. As I type this, she is texting me that B-dude just went to get them some Dole Whips! I’m hoping some more pics will be forthcoming, but meanwhile, stay tuned for another update in a little while (isn’t this “live real-time reporting” fun? 8-) )

Okay, I just got the last text of the evening. Apparently they enjoyed their Dole Whips and the fireworks. Tired and stuffed, they're now hailing a cab back to the Boardwalk. No way in Hades they're going to do the buses tonight! Don't want to risk ruining a perfectly good evening by getting stuck in a sardine can with another screaming brat.
B-babe says she's going running in the morning. Okay, we'll see.... But she probably will... they are calling it a night fairly early tonight.

Well, that's a wrap! Time for this reporter to call it a night too. I gotta get up at 3:45 in the a.m. to get ready for work, and I'm planning on running in the morning too... if I can...

'night, everybody. Stay tuned tomorrow for Day 6 of Boilertude! :D

You admitted that Duffy is cute?!? What were you thinking, man!!! You should have talked her out of it! You could have told her she could get some more Dole Whips or some 'ritas with that money instead! :mickey: You're being an enabler! What next? Are you going to be handing out bottles of Vodka to alcoholics?

No, wait, you may be doing that again in January 2012...

Add another one to the list that like Duffy, he is cute, cuddly and soft what more could you possibly want. Of course there is a pattern emerging here it seems to be all the women who love the little bear.

I say we leave the men to the vinylmations and turn our attention to our cuddly friend. :D

Nope, Sleepy90, it seems so far that most of the VM fans are turning out to be the women too, even though NaCler was the corrupting influence that started the VM topic thread...
