Okay guys, do you want the official review and report of my Art of Animation tour here or elsewhere? Since we all seem to gather here anyways.

Maybe you should start a thread for Soarin's Adventures of her Professional Internship? Then you could put all the stuff we are curious about in there?? With photos when possibleSoarin08 wrote:Okay guys, do you want the official review and report of my Art of Animation tour here or elsewhere? Since we all seem to gather here anyways.

Re: Mayhem Marauders Meet-up Part Deux!
Day 3:
The day had finally arrived!!!! It was meet up day!!! We got an early start since EPCOT opened at 9 and we knew we wanted to be there as long as possible since this was our only park day. Cbog40 went ahead to Old Port Royale to grab a refill on the mug (or a few), and I met him there…we then headed to the bus stop and proceeded to wait. We saw a bus (in some cases a few buses) for every possible place but EPCOT! On top of that, no one at the bus stop was getting on any of those other buses. UGH! Everyone was going to EPCOT!!!! The bus finally showed up and we were on our way…standing of course…
As we got closer to the park, we started seeing runners from the ½ marathon. (No, we didn’t see boilerbabe
) We got through a very thorough bag check and finally made it up to the ticket window. Once we had out tickets in hand, we looked at each other, took a deep breath, smiled huge kool-aid smiles and headed to the turnstiles. We were finally inside our favorite park at WDW!!! Our plan was to hit Mission: Space first since we figured there would be a line, but noticed that Spaceship Earth was a walk-on, and what better way to start a trip to EPCOT? It was the first time we had been on the “new” version, though I had already heard the recording here on Sub. Yeah, not thrilled with the changes…though we both experienced the Walter Cronkite version, we both enjoy the Jeremy Irons version best. Both the music and narration were excellent and it didn’t make you feel like you were in kindergarten again…
(sorry, Dame Judi Dench)

Next up was Mission: Space.

The last time we were at WDW, M: S was about a month or so away from opening…they were doing random preview rides, but we weren’t among the lucky ones. So we knew this was going to be a must do for us. There was a 5 minute wait for green team, so we went for it. (plus we inched in right before a BTG) I get claustrophobic in certain situations, so I was really nervous about going on this attraction. Plus I have some equilibrium issues that would make going on orange team dizzying and we weren’t sure how Cbog40 was going to react with his condition. Anyway, we were put into our teams and led down the hallway to our capsules. Cbog40 was our Navigator and I was our Pilot. At this point I thought I was going to hyperventilate and have to leave, but I really wanted to go on this…so the deal was this…I’ll try it, but if it smelled like protein spill, I was outta there! The door opened and we walked into our capsule. We got settled in and the harness came down. The console tipped forward. Here we go!!!! What a ride!!!! I found that because I focused on the screen and didn’t look around me, the claustrophobia didn’t kick in…but the equilibrium issue did. I think some other guests might have thought I was drunk when we walked down the exit hall.
Cbog40 wanted to go on orange team, but the line was 45 minutes when we got back outside so we decided not to. I guess we’ll have to try that next time…
I do love that the Imagineers always pay homage to attractions past when one attraction replaces another...

We decided to grab fastpasses for Test Track since the return time was before our lunch meet up.

We decided to go to (sigh) Imagination. Neither one of us like what it’s become, but it just wouldn’t feel right if we skipped the pavilion all together. On our way there, we saw Snow White and since she only had a handful of people around her, we decided to get a picture...and this was the PC version of the "Dopey kiss"

So we headed back toward the Imagination Pavilion…
SQUIRREL!

…to pay a visit to Figment.

From here we decided to head to The Land. Along the way, I nearly had a visitor…a squirrel scampered toward me and was about to run up my leg, but made a better choice by scampering off in the opposite direction. All the while, his little buddy thought he would sneak in and grab whatever food the first one had...they kind of got into a little argument/fist fight before running off. All I could hear was Chip and Dale arguing back and forth (yes, I know C&D are chipmunks...
)
Unfortunately, Cbog40 didn’t happen to catch this funny little interlude on camera (neither did I for that matter), but I thought it was worth sharing.

Walking into the pavilion was sheer torture since we were starting to get hungry, but the meet up lunch was only a couple of hours away…so as tempting as Sunshine Seasons was, we resisted and went to check out Living with the Land. There was actually a little line…thanks BTGs
…but we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes. I always loved this boat ride, but I miss the old version…oh well. At least you still get to see the greenhouse areas. Those were always so interesting to me. We saw a Behind the Seeds tour taking place on the sideline…we will get to that one day. Maybe next trip…

While on the boat ride, I received a text from Mousekedude saying they were headed toward EPCOT, and would be there in about half an hour. He also mentioned about getting fastpasses for Soarin’. We were debating whether or not to grab fastpasses for Soarin’, but we also knew that since we had been on the original so many times, it would be OK if we didn’t go at all since there were so many other things to see. We had been wandering around the pavilion for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do until they arrived, and since it was getting to be time for our Test Track return time, we decided to go there…until I got a text from Mousekedude saying they were at bag check. We decided to just wait for them. Here it was…the moment we had been waiting for all this time…we were about to meet the Mousecouple and Mindflipper! Cbog40, Mindflipper and Mousekedude all met first, then I spotted the merry crew. Mouseoholic somehow slipped past us, but after we all had FPs, we were finally all together. I mentioned that we had FPs for TT and had been on our way to use them…the single rider line was mentioned and so off we were. We used our FPs and Mindflipper and the Mousecouple all went single rider. We had fun passing each other in the queue!
Even though we were finished first, they weren’t far behind. Not too shabby.

We kept seeing this motley crew of characters while in the queue...we thought we'd better keep an eye on them. They looked like they were up to no good...

Wheeeee!!!!!!

After we were done being crash test dummies, we decided to walk around WS from Mexico to Germany to meet for our lunch at Biergarten.
It was hard, but we were able to keep Mousekedude on the "straight and narrow"...those jalapeno margaritas sure have a pull on him

Soarin08 had texted Mousekedude mentioning that she was there and told him what she was wearing so we would know her. We arrived at our destination, and Soarin08 found us and Mouseoholic went to check us in. In the meantime, yodiwan1 and his friend finally found us too. Now our lunch group was complete! Mouseoholic had an interesting encounter when she went to check in, but I’ll let her tell that story. We were called a few minutes later and away we go! What an amazing restaurant!!! Cbog40 and I had never been here before...and we won’t be afraid to go again! The atmosphere was great! The service was fabulous! The food was YUMMY!!!! So we figured since we were a group of 8 we should have our own table…but what we didn’t know was that the tables were for 10. Ugh! So we had 2 more joining us for lunch…yep, Mr. Brazil. This is where it got interesting. Turns out the interesting encounter Mouseoholic had, was with said Mr. Brazil. So, while we were all trying to chit chat and get to know each other better, we had a complete stranger butting in every 2 seconds putting his 2 cents into everything and once he found out Soarin08 was a CM, that was it…the complaints came flying out! Not just any complaints, but major dogging on Grand Floridian and the food.
Oh well…so Soarin08, Mindflipper, Cbog40 and I (but mainly Soarin08) all got the brunt of this man’s moan and groan fest. (I was sitting right next to the guy) Once the band started playing I pretty much turned away from him though I could still hear him, I pretended not to.
I wasn’t going to let this guy ruin this amazing lunch we were looking forward to. )

Here's the whole group...I believe mindflipper posted a similar pic already...plus he had the pic of our waiter (we still maintain that he is a Schwartzenegger
)

Reeeecola...

Once we had all eaten our fill of the wonderous German food, we decided to head over to Club Cool to be shown proof once and for all that Mousekedude actually likes the Beverly! (Plus we all had to have pics taken of our Beverly faces)
I know the Mousecouple has already posted our Beverly faces, but I came across this one...comedy and tragedy

From here, we checked on the wait for the Disney Visa photo op, but the wait was too long. We stopped by the pin kisosk where yodiwan1 increased his pin collection by a lot, and thanks to Soarin08 we were able to increase our pin collection by 2 instead of 1. We then decided to go on Spaceship Earth as a group. There was a little line, but it wasn’t bad at all…we were in such good company that I don’t remember how long it was, but it was definitely less than 10 minutes.

Look at mindflipper in the future! Hasn't changed one bit!

Mouseoholic and Soarin08 in the future...

MmeLeota and Cbog40 in the future...oddly enough, our video didn't work during the ride, but we found our picture at the end.

Unfortunately, I missed yodiwan1 and Mousekedude's pictures
From here, yodiwan1 and friend and Soarin08 left and so the remaining 5 of us were left to figure out what to do while we waited for our FP return time…we still had over an hour to go. Hmmm…what to do?
This attraction is perfect for taking up a large chunk of time and is known as a fabulous napping ride.
What is…

Mindflipper demonstrated this very well…

Obligatory dino pic

It was about time for our FP return to Soarin’ so we headed back toward The Land…but on the way we had to make a stop at Mouse Gear. Mouseoholic wanted to take a big swig of that “bear-who-must-not-be-named” flavored kool-aid. It was the aviator outfit that did her in. (I have to agree, the little goggles and bomber jacket are adorable!) Off to Soarin’ we go!!!
Chug-a-lug!

Check out the cute tushie tat...

Mayhem invades Soarin'! (not to be confused with our friend, Soarin08...
)

Even this lady knows something is up...

Once we finished the ride, the Mousecouple and Mindflipper left to go back to their rooms and get ready for later that evening, and we were going to stay in EPCOT as long as possible. So we decided to go say hi to Nemo. The ride is kinda cute (and similar to the sub ride in DL), but whatever happened to the inside of the attraction was just plain depressing.
It was so empty…the tanks and the building…but we at least got to see a manatee.

Woah! That's a big butt!

Will the real Nemo please stand up?

We hit up Club Cool again since we found ourselves to be thirsty…no more Beverly, thank you. Though some teenage kid was trying to trick Cbog40 into trying it…but he knew better.
Got some pics of the Christmas tree

Great start to day 3 MmeLeota ~ I started laughing when you were describing your exit from Mission Space, then I thought that was a bit insensitive, but then I couldn't help myself and started giggling again
Glad you were able to tolerate it though.
That pretzel bread at the Biergarten looks tasty!
I agree with you on the Land boats ~ not quite the same. Still enjoyable, but just not the same. And the Seas tanks really were very sad
I love all the photos from the meet-up, but the photo of Cbog40 at Club Cool might be one of my favorites
Looking forward to more! And you are encouraging me to get my boat
back in gear and get some more of my latest trip report posted...someday soon

Isn't it frustrating how real life interferes with what we want to do?! Hope you are still on the mend...boilerbabe wrote:I really enjoyed day 3 Mmeleota!!! Loved all of your pictures and detail!
