As one who has experienced it, I just want to advertise that the Kuka technology is absolutely fabulous. I think it's actually the best ride I've ever been on.DemonOfMusic wrote:
Hey now, Amy, I love Universal!! I know I'm going to get lynched for saying that, and it doesn't even compare to Disney, but I do!
I haven't been in a long time. I'm sure it is ok, I just find myself thinking how much I would rather be at Disney. I do love the E.T. ride at Univ. though. And someday I would like to experience the Harry Potter ride. Not because I am a fan, haven't even read the books or watched the movies, but because of the Kuka arm technology of the ride!

No bickering about Universal in this thread! This calls for an 80's montage!

Just found out the first day there, it'll be roughly 85 degrees. Looking forward to it, honestly.

Hahaha I definitely have not started packing yet. I pack light, so I typically pack the night before. I really wish longboarding or skateboarding was allowed down there, though. I just got into an activity called "Land paddling" and it's proven to be a great work out. It'd be even cooler taking part in it down at my favorite place on earth.

Just heard that my mom put in a reservation for Boma the night we get there. Apparently we're staying at the AKL

WOOWWW!!!! Ok, I want a DETAILED REVIEW of Boma, please! Have always wanted to try it. And, tell me your impression of how well "picky eaters" would do there, and, if it's too similar to 'Ohana.TikiTikiRoom wrote:Just heard that my mom put in a reservation for Boma the night we get there. Re: Upcoming adventure!
Well if memory serves me right, Boma is the buffet-style family restaurant that is actually very close to Jiko, the other AKL restaurant. We originally tried grabbing a reservation for Jiko, but they said they don't take reservations?? Does that sound right at all? I thought Jiko was the nicer one, yet they dont take reservations? I'm wondering if my mom mixed up the names or something.

Have you checked to see if there's a skate park somewhere nearby in Orlando?TikiTikiRoom wrote:Hahaha I definitely have not started packing yet. I pack light, so I typically pack the night before. Re: Upcoming adventure!
Yeah unfortunately longboarding in a skatepark is frowned upon by fellow skaters (atleast from what I've seen) and it's pretty impossible to do anything in a park with one anyways. I'm more of a cruiser and sightseer when i use my board. We also are relying on park transportation, we dont have our own vehicle.mindflipper wrote:Have you checked to see if there's a skate park somewhere nearby in Orlando?TikiTikiRoom wrote:Hahaha I definitely have not started packing yet. Re: Upcoming adventure!
You will love Boma. DW and I ate there when we were at WDW for our Honeymoon. There is plenty of food...and different kinds. I would say that the majority of people...even picky eaters...would enjoy most of the food there. Disney has done a great job offering African food that is familiar enough to not be scary...but different enough to make you want to try it. Neither DW or myself are picky eaters at all...so we had no issues...but I doubt a picky eater would be disappointed at Boma.
One thing you definitely want to try...if your server can get you one...is a non-alcoholic drink called the "West African Frunch" (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice). It is fantastic and something you normally wouldn't have at home. Our server gave us one "on the house" so we could try it out.
