Bingo! They know we're addicted, so they cash in on it. Of course, if we really were upset about it we would stop buying stuff. Since that hasn't happened yet, I have to assume that they have us pegged. ("rackum-frackum, razzle-frazzle, grumble-grumble," *kicking dirt.......* ). :x :x

Okay, enough whining. I'm working on Day 10 right now. Stay tuned for mayhem and frolicks.

Gawrsh, isn't this fun? :goofy_bounce:

...if there isn't subliminal messages in the area music, then maybe they've got some "secret ingredient" in the Dole Whips? I see how many people on this board is addicted to them. Maybe it's a chemical when it reaches the brain that lowers your impulse control and makes you buy, buy, buy...

Day 10, Thursday December 17 2009

Narrative by Mousekedude

Wow, it’s been a great, but tiring trip so far! Well, Amber’s parents have gone home, so now Amber and I can enjoy ourselves all alone for a couple days. Not that we didn’t enjoy being with them, but it’s still nice to just focus on each other for a while.
So I wake up, all ready for another big day of fun and frolic, and guess what? Now Amber’s sick! I finally get all better, and now she’s down for the count! Thermonuclear bummer!!!! It wouldn’t be such a big deal except for the fact that we have reservations for the 8:00 a.m. Segway tour at Epcot! So I go ahead and get dressed, wondering what to do, and Amber looks up at me from her sick bed and whispers, “it’s okay sweetie *cough, cough*…. you go on without me…. *cough, wheeze*….. I’ll be okay…. *sniffle, rasp, wheeze*….â€

You mean with as much WDW experience as you have, you didn't know that? I'm shocked!

Well, this is a first! I actually knew something Mindflipper didn't know! Wow! I'm simply dizzy with amazement!

Just messing with you, bubba! But I'll check with Mouseoholic and have her post the details. She knows all that stuff because she actually booked it.

Does that actually means Mouseoholic knew something before me (as she was the one who booked - is she the one who told you, Mouskedude?)?

Just teasing, dude - you still knew it before me, but it does make it sound like Mouseoholic is the fountain of wisdom here...

I enjoyed your day 10 report! I also like the shot of yourself on the Segway M-Dude!

You haven't done Segway mindflipper? I hope I'm not stepping on the Mousecouple's toes....but if you want to do the Segway you have to call the tours 407-WDW-TOURS and tell them you want to book the Segway Around the World tour at EPCOT. I forget the exact price but I know if you have a Disney Visa you get a 15% discount on this tour. It lasts about two hours and is a blast!!! We've done it twice now. I would really like to try the one at Wilderness Lodge on our next trip. Would you recommend that one M-Dude?!

I would recommend the earlier tours b/c the park is still empty, if you go later, WS is still closed but Futureworld opens and you have dodge the people. We also noticed when we did the later tour that we did get to go all the way around WS, we were cut short.

Thanks, B-babe!
And no, you're not stepping on our toes. As it turns out, my DW is extremely busy right now, getting ready to go out of town. Her company is sending her to one of their Europe offices (again) for a week, starting Sunday (I'm so jealous). So I'm glad you posted the information.

Everything you said is exactly right. The early tour is the best. I've done the first tour, and the second tour (right after the park opens), and the second one was a little less fun because you have to dodge crowds and there are delays. But it's still fun. I would definitely recommend the tour at Wilderness Lodge as well. You get to ride the off-road version (big, knobby tires.... way cool...) and go on all these really cool nature trails. We even saw deer up close!

Yes, she is definitely the expert in our family when it comes to all things Disney. You should see her prep for a trip! She busts out this notebook full of charts, spreadsheets, etc. She's got several Disney-related apps on her iphone, and even has some of the booking numbers on speed dial! It's crazy... but I like it! She does all the hard work, and I get to have fun!
(LOL, really, for her the planning is half the fun...)

Day 11, Friday December 18th 2009.

Narrative by Mousekedude

Our last day! (sound of babies crying…. Waaaaa… waaaaaa….)

The morning dawned gray and drab, a light rain falling softly outside. It matched our mood.
Image

We were sad that it was our last day, but we did have some pretty cool stuff planned. So actually, we were a little disappointed by the rain. But hey, we were prepared! Ponchos all around!

So we loaded up our luggage in the Bell-Services shuttle (my lovely sweetie had the foresight to call it in the night before) and headed down to the lobby for a quick breakfast at Artist’s Palette, and then we headed for DHS to meet up with…. THE BOILERS!!!! YAAAAAAYYYY!!!!

Yup, we had arranged yesterday to meet them at the park this morning for fun and frolics. We got there early enough that we got to ride Rock ‘n Roller Coaster twice in a row before our scheduled meet-up time.
Image

We then met up with them at the cross-roads between RnR and ToT, and discussed what we were going to do. It was decided that the Boilers and I (and their friend, Tim) would go on ToT while Amber went to do some last-minute shopping, and then afterwards we would all meet up and ride RnR together. So that’s what we did.

After we rode RnR together, it was time to part ways (sniffle, sob, tears…). We really loved hanging out with the Boilers, and their friend Tim was really cool too, but we had to part ways because Amber and I had a reservation at the Hollywood Brown Derby for the special “Lunch With an Imagineerâ€

Took me 20 hours to get home from my trip back in 2002. Beautiful day in Orlando when we left WDW. Ice storm hit the southeast...so we were stuck in the Orlando airport overnight. We were finally allowed to leave and then got stuck in Atlanta for a few hours. Got to Birmingham, AL (home) and had no luggage.

That was the brief version of the story. The whole thing would take me an hour to write. It was a fun trip...but the trip home was anything but pleasant.

Well, I waited for the entire report to be posted before responding. I just got done with reading 8 pages of what should be a NY Times Bestseller! It was a a great story and worth staying up to read. I do apologize for never responding to when I was mentioned on page 3. I was hibernating during Winter Break :D It is really sad to read of all those little things that happened on your vacation that tried to dampen it, but of course in the end failed! You both got sick, which is my BIGGEST fear when on vacation. You are in a strange place where you don't know anybody. Luckily, you both recovered and were able to sleep it off. I also feel terrible about your pick-pocketing incident. It really comes as a culture shock that you can NEVER let your guard down, even in Disney World. I do hope that you tried to at least fill out a police report with the Sheriff's department.

As for dining, you made a very interesting point about California Grill. We ate there on our last night of our 2008 vacation. I had ordered the Chicken and thought it was one of the best meals that I had eaten in my life. My family had ordered something else, but they all thought the food was good, but not worth the price. As for getting a better steak, I would HIGHLY recommend going to Le Cellier. I have, to this day only eaten one other steak that has been to that level and it was at this fancy steakhouse in Canada. I believe the steak we all ate at Le Cellier was the Kansas City Strip Steak.

As for the limo, I am actually surprised that you didn't take a rental car for your length of stay. It is always nice to have that chauffeur service, but I sometimes personally question the cost worthiness of it. The reason I would say rental, is that you are able to come and go as you please with going off property. It might have actually, in your case, been a money saver between all the cabs, the daily rental, and the limo service.

I really enjoyed Mousekedude's special romantic treat. That really seems like something that could make for a really fun day in the park. It might even help you appreciate and enjoy the park in a whole new perspective since you are being a mini detective. I am jealous that you got to meet the Boilers and Matt Hotchberg while you were there. It feels like there was a subsonic members meet and I missed it. However, I have been lucky enough to meet and talk with a couple of other members on this board. It really does feel like we are all a big family and have known each other all of our lives.

Finally, couldn't help but notice, but your parents left on a Cruise Line bus, but you stated that was a Magical Express. Was it just Mears not having enough Magical Express buses and sending that or did they take a cruise?
