I've stayed at all the moderate resorts and Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite. Ironically, before we stayed there, we thought it would be our least favorite. But it is beautiful, with so much to do. You can take a carriage ride around the grounds. There's an excellent pool area, one that rivals The Dig Site (although Dig Site is better. It has a volleyball court). You can take a boat ride to Downtown Disney, one of our favorite little ventures. It has a very nice food court. And it has wonderful ambience.

I did book for POP but ended up changing just this week to CRB! It was my first Disney resort and now that they upgraded the pool and added the tip bucket for the kids I'm pretty sure we are going to enjoy our stay there! We are renting a car so moving around Disney is not going to be a problem.
The only thing that I didn't like about CBR was how large it is and how much walking we had to do to get to the main pool.
There were no preferred rooms left this late in my decision to change so maybe when we get there I can always ask if one is available?

I agree with secondstar. POR is the favorite for Mindy and I of all the moderate resorts.

Another (possibly less expensive) option is to rent points from a DVC member and stay at one of the DVC resorts. Mindy and I stayed at OKW for almost $50/night less than what we would have spent at one of the moderate resorts. After staying at one of the DVC resorts (although it has the drawback of not getting daily room service), I can never see waiting in line for a bus at another resort again. There is literally no wait - which is extremely nice after a long day at the parks.

The car rental is a great idea if you want to go to Downtown Disney and off Disney Property. We do it all the time. However, I would advise against using the car to go to the parks. I personally find it a lot easier to use Disney Transport in getting to the parks since they let you off right in front and there is no need to board a parking tram or walk a mile just to get into the park.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge a few years back we liked it so much we will be staying there again this April. We enjoyed the rustic atmosphere and restaurants. The transportation to MK can be via ferry boat or bus. Also has it's own little white sand beach on the lakefront.

As for what you have listed, I would say CBR or CS. Both are pretty much the same except I think CBR has a nicer location in relation to the parks and Downtown Disney.
That's why I picked Wilderness Lodge, because it was not very much more than a moderate an sooooo nice!

I think most know what my resort choice is?! The Poly! But if we had to pick a moderate I would choose POFQ. I've stayed at CBR, CS and both POFQ and PORS. I think Coronado has the best food court and if you can get a room near the lobby, it's not a problem. POFQ is nice b/c it quant! Very pretty and easy access to Downtown Disney. We like CBR, but if you're far off from everything, it can be a bit of a hike to get to the food court. Never stayed at Wilderness, but I can see how it's tempting b/c it seems to be the most reasonable of all the Deluxe Resorts. Anyway you go, you really can't go wrong with Disney. Each resort has something unique to offer! :)

POR was always my favourite. I've stayed there many times in both the mansions and the bayoes, the second being my preference. That said last time I stayed at the AKL. Normally I try and avoid the hotels that are that are one large building and they can often seem crowded and all hustle and bustle, which is not what I want after a busy day in the parks! I was pleasantly surprised and AKL is now my fave. There is something extra magical about waking up and seeing live zebra and giraffe outside your window :mickey:

Brushes of the dust on Sarah's shoulders, welcome back!!!

I know what you mean about the hustle and bustle. I am all about less noise, people, time. Yes I said time, if it takes me too long to get back to the room then I don't want it. I am all about short trips to the parks and I don't want them turning into all day affairs because I had to walk 2 miles to get to the room (I'm looking at you POP Century). Piece of advice on lower noise, stay on the top floor of the hotel you are staying at granted this doesn't work in the deluxe hotels because that would cost TONS on money, but this is more for the Moderate and Value resorts.
