Disneyland in October

Post by mommyfor2 » Jul Tue 01, 2008 10:22 am

I am planning a trip to Disneyland for the 1st week in October. Does anyone know if it is going to be really busy or is that a quiet time? I have 2 small kids & I wanted to go when I thought it wouldn't be too busy, plus the room rates seem to be cheaper as well. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

It might not be as crowded because there are kids going to school (save for those ditching or having various times for classes) but I would say that it would be pretty light. This is just my guess but if you start on a weekday then it shouldn't be so bad.

Oh dear oh dear the October dilemma! First of all, the Fall decor is amazing. I Love Halloween and Disney does it best with their pumpkins and other great atmospheric themes spread throughout the park. Haunted Mansion Holiday is great fun and perfect for the time of year. All that praise being said, please take my advice...GO DURING THE WEEK DAYS!! I was in Disneyland during the Middle of October in 2006. Disney did some major advertising in California for their Halloween Treat Special in the park. We arrived on a Wednesday and it was great. But on Friday it was like the sky opened up and dumped a million people into the park. It was more crowded than I had ever seen it. I was sooo shocked and then I stopped to listen to conversations. Most everyone was a California Local! Apart from me feeling insanely jealous that they get to go to DL anytime they want, I felt angry that I didnt know about the weekend rushes. But a bad thing is if you dont spend at least one weekend night in the park, you will miss the Fireworks which are practically a reason for me to go by itself. SO My advice is to plan the majority of your trip for the week days and if you want to see the Fireworks, have a Friday night thrown into the mix. Have fun and drink hot cocoa for me when you go!
