Things would totally be different..the Peoplemover would finally be running again in Disneyland, we'd get rid of the nonsense rides that people were talking about in another post, we could design a nighttime fireworks show over the MK that was different every night for someone on Subsonic. I'm ready!bostoncg wrote:I think we SubSonic listeners should take over the Disney Corp, can you imagine how great things would be if I was .... I mean we were running things
Ahem.. I'm supposed to be in charge but I'd hire you all.
I think grumpy CMs are a result of poor pay and now just being a "number" that management doesn't care about. I was happy to work at Disneyland and was quite helpful to guests. I was familiar with the parks and could answer everybody's questions. There were times though, with irate guests, where the manager wouldn't "back me up". It makes you feel worthless and you stop caring.

You can be in charge and we will be your minions (sp?) dispersing happiness throughout the park! Can you please hurry up and take over before my trip in June!! And I know you would pay us better than the current management!subsonic wrote:Ahem.. I'm supposed to be in charge but I'd hire you all.

We meet a grumpy and sleepy CM in the Boneyard in AK. He was an old guy who kept falling asleep adn would wake up periodically and mutter 'Shoes must be worn at all times!' We have him on DVD almost falling of his seat, my kids didn't want to leave until he actually fell off! We obviously told them this wasn't a nice thing to do!!!

Where I have never personally had an encounter with a grumpy CM, my sister actually met the most depressed CM at Disney World one night. We were at the Meistro Mickey's gift shop at the All-Star Music resort and my sister left for a second to use the restroom while I looked around. When I looked to the front of the store, I saw her having what looked like a really serious conversation (which is weird seeing as we were in Disney World-not the most serious of places) for like 15 minutes. When she was able to break away, I asked her what she was doing and she told me when she was greeted by him and she asked him how he was doing, he said, "I hate my life" and went in to this long spiel about how every aspect of his life absolutely sucked. I thought this was sad and kind of ironic becuase he was in "The Happiest Place on Earth..."

My first thought on reading this post was that I have never had a bad experience with a CM or seen the parks dirty. But, I can think of a couple of times that the CMs were a bit off. CMs are humans, too, and do have an off day once in a while. Training is of the utmost importance and if it's not complete can lead to a poor guest experience. I'm a consultant, so having an approriate response is necessary at all times for me to be successful. When I was 17 years old I didn't know how to treat people well. Now, at 58, sometimes I still say or do things that, with a little thought, I could have handled much better. Nowadays, when I have a less-than-excellent CM experience I tend to shrug it off. I have had too many pleasant times at Disney to let anything spoil my vacation and memories.
