Disneyland Day 1of5 (lots of pictures.....lots)

Post by garate55 » Dec Wed 05, 2007 12:36 am

I hope you all like looking at pictures cause I took alot on this trip(2200) but you don't get to see all of them.

Most of you(ok all of you) may not have seen my name around but I have been reading this forum for a while. I figure you can handle another trip report.

We arrived Wednesday night November 14th and stayed at the hotel room until the next day when...................all of a sudden we left for ---

Day 1 On our way to the park Thursday morning.

Day1 Part 2
We went back through New Orleans Square to the Railroad Station, I think we were going back to
the hotel room cause the girls got soaked at Splash Mountain.
Image

Image

Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
My wife snapped off a shot of Toontown as we went by…headed to Main Street.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
I tried to get some shots of the Matterhorn as we went by(from the train) but the trees kept getting in the way.
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
We finally arrived at Main Street. I tried to get some photos of the dioramas but you do not want to see those.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Cruella de Vil…..you have to see her if you haven’t already she is gooooood!
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
I love the Disneyland bands…. They have got some really good, talented musicians.
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
The castle looks really cluttered from this distance.
They had something going on later that night but I will get to that later.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Mickey and Minnie were on hand at the Plaza Inn for Birthday parties
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
The Dapper Dans are really good too. I missed the Carolers this year or I would have pulled out the video camera for them they are funny.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Here are some more shots of Main Street with the Holiday decorations.
Image

Image

Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Belle, Aurora and Snow White were here for a short photo stint, caught them at the end. Funny thing is
Cruella de Vil followed them around and said that Belle looked like a giant banana.

_________________________________________________________________________________
I like City Hall, I think this and the Emporium have the best architectural features of all the Disney buildings on Main Street.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
And here is the Emporium with it’s grand architecture and home like feeling.
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
The fire station is part of City Hall so it gets to be one of my favorites too.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
The Emporium again, with Goofy in front, what could be better.

Day1 Part 3
This is the parting (or so I thought) of the castle for the night.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
A couple characters from around the Hub.
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Main Street is very calming at night even with the bright lights glaring.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
We were doing the last hour in the park doing some Christmas/ general gift shopping.
Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
I got a photo of this sign right before we heard the announcement that this radio station was celebrating their 25th anniversary.
We were told they would be celebrating at the Castle, so we went.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
The celebration was for KOST 103.5 a southern California contemporary station. Here are some of their DJ’s
Image

Image

Image

Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
OK, right after all of their introductions they announced that the park would be open for an additional 5hrs. How cool is that?
_________________________________________________________________________________
We went straight for Nemo but the line was already at an hour, 5min after the announcement. So my wife and son hit Star Tours.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
They had these plastered everywhere in the park.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
We wasted some time shopping too. I got to talking to one of the guys working in the Star Tours shop, and he asked how we won tickets?????
I guess it was an invitation only event, so he told us that if anyone asks tell them you are here with a group that won tickets.
The Rocket……………

We waited in line for what seemed like an hour waiting to ride Autopia.
Image

_________________________________________________________________________________
Here is an old Jr. Autopia car statue. These were cool old cars and I would love to get my hands on one.

I use a Nikon D40, it is my first DSLR and I got it about 2 months ago, so some of my photos are really GREAT cause I am definitely not a pro.

But I do have 4 more days to go(obviously from the title), so hang with me.

Thanks Nancie and Steve.

This will happen everytime you get a new camera, I just got the Cannon EOS-400D(rebel xti but in black) back about 6 months ago. I started retaking all of my old pictures with the thing. The only thing I need to do is get a wider angle lens. This trip out to DL this month I'm taking my Cannon Powershot pro1 because it can take wider shots, something I missed the last trip.

I've never had a Nikon yet, only reason is all cannon's have the same general layout so I don't get confused when I upgrade. Granted you get more features as you upgrade but the basic layout is the same. I know it is the same for the Nikons but I would have to learn it from scratch.

How wide are you thinking of going? I have just two lenses for my Rebel XT, the 18-55mm kit lens and a 75-300mm. The 18mm setting on the kit lens has always seemed wide enough for me.

However, there is a 10-22mm super wide angle zoom lens (EF-S series) that runs for almost as much as I paid initially for my camera body and kit lens... the sucker runs at Best Buy for about $825 or so. I want that one sooooooo bad.

Well the powershot that I have is Edit: 7mm-55.5 (not 10mm-55mm) which gave me the ability to get shots comparable to film. With Digital SLR's there is a difference in angles, what is considered to be "superwide" angle on DSLR is normal for Film. It all has to do with the image processor, the bigger the processor the wider the shot will be with a particular lens.

Anywho, if your looking for a lens like that go to http://www.bhphotovideo.com and look for it there, they usually have great prices. I got the XTI from here for $600 (body only) now it is down to $575 (body only)

Here the EF series:

here is the one I was thinking of:
http://tinyurl.com/2ytq4c

Sigma is a good brand, haven't been a huge fan of the EF-S series from Cannon, I get to much pixelation with them.
